Discussion for article #223528
There is nothing about this story that doesn’t make me laugh…ESPECIALLY if this was some sub-Mission Impossible fantasy about tampering with results. McD’s is the campaign that just keeps giving.
but no investigation was ongoing.
WTF?? WTF?? WTF???
Edit: from the Clarion-Ledger article:
Perry said some precinct information wasn’t sealed because the doors would be locked. He said they were coming back today to complete the process such as counting affidavit ballots.
2nd edit: OccamsRazor2 pointed out below that the Clarion-Ledger article has been updated and that an investigation has been opened by the sheriff’s office. The three individuals are named, and all have ties to McDaniel. One of them, Scott Brewster, is McDaniel’s campaign coalition director.
from the article:
Cochran campaign spokesman Jordan Russell said “it is astonishing that the same people who are up to their eyeballs in four felons breaking into a nursing home are also up to their eyeballs in potentially breaking in somewhere else again.”
Wow. Just…wow.
The only thing I can think of that would compel her to break in is to possibly tamper with votes? Which is really really fucking stupid considering the votes were counted and secured, but, you know, baggers.
M-I-S-S-I-S-S-I-P-P-I.
You know.
Maybe she was taking pictures of somebody’s wife.
The real reason she was there is because it was rumored that Cochran’s great-great-grandmother’s ghost was wandering the halls and they wanted a picture to add to a video vilifying the Senator for not finding her killer and thus finally releasing her spirit into the afterlife. And that makes it alright, because Tea Partiers are the good guys, which justifies everything they do.
Something tells me some of those affidavit ballots are M-I-S-S-I-N-G.
a (white) supporter is alone with ballots on election night – no problem
a (black) kid tries to register Mickey Mouse to vote – an existential threat to our democracy
Yeah… trying to keep Cochran under the 50% margin is my guess.
Some hard-nosed reporter better track down that police officer that let her into that supposed unlocked door into the courthouse and ask him/her a few house-keeping questions about why this woman said she would be entering a building at that hour…if in fact this police officer actually exists. Plus, it seems to me someone outside of either campaign needs to check the seals on those ballots if that’s where they are kept. Hey, there’s another thing some newsie might want to check out too instead of taking someone’s word for it. Sure puts an exclamation point on an already very close race full of shenanigans.
Comical, what possible damage will this do? A new (arcane) word atavistic came up on another thread today, lift MS’s skirt then, and see (peep at) the (Barbour) great lady’s antebellum.
Lane never called 911? Oh, why would a domestic terrorist call that number.
Only in MS can a white woman wishing to observe or sabotage the process, wander aimless in and out of the courthouse, at all times of night. So much for driving Ms Daisy.
I don’t think it’s a white or black thing. It’s a Republican versus Democrat thing. We’ve had Republicans get caught voting twice, and that’s not considered dangerous at all.
Besides, Republicans are totally fine with black people, just as long as they’re far-far-right conservatives who don’t rock the boat. Heck, they came pretty darn close to nominating Herman Cain, despite his complete lack of any qualifications for the job whatsoever. But he was a far-rightie who said crazy stuff and hated Obama, and that’s good enough for them.
Conservatives hate democracy, they hate America, they hate the troops, they hate freedom.
Conservatives love fascism, they love dictators, they love terrorism they love slavery.
heh… wonder where they got the idea:
Warren’s vote tally walled off
Alone in Ohio, officials cited homeland security
By Erica Solvig
Enquirer staff writer
LEBANON - Citing concerns about potential terrorism, Warren County officials locked down the county administration building on election night and blocked anyone from observing the vote count as the nation awaited Ohio’s returns.
County officials say they took the action Tuesday night for homeland security, although state elections officials said they didn’t know of any other Ohio county that closed off its elections board. Media organizations protested, saying it violated the law and the public’s rights. The Warren results, delayed for hours because of long lines that extended voting past the scheduled close of polls, were part of the last tallies that helped clinch President Bush’s re-election.
“The media should have been permitted into the area where there was counting,” Enquirer attorney Jack Greiner said. “This is a process that should be done in complete transparency and it wasn’t.”
Warren County Emergency Services Director Frank Young said he had recommended increased security based on information received from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in recent weeks.
Commissioners made the security decisions in a closed-door meeting last week, but didn’t publicize the restrictions that were made until after polls closed.
I understand that county courthouses have extra security, but this doesn’t pass the smell test. All public buildings have free egress levers on most doors, due to fire codes. Does Mississippi not have the most basic fire safety requirements the rest of the country has? Or was this person fearful of activating an alarm? The bottom line is that she wasn’t “locked in” and could have anonymously walked away at any time. It doesn’t add up.
That’s for damn sure. And I doubt the famous police officer will turn up. A cop lets you into a locked, empty courthouse in the middle of the night after an election because you want to “observe the election process”? If you made a pile of every catfish in the state of Mississippi the pile wouldn’t be as fishy as this lady’s story.
find the cop who pointed out the unlocked door and allowed entry at such an unusual time…
if such a person actually exists, s/he needs to be fired.
perhaps tpm should request to speak to the accommodating officer…
Well, she was on her way to White Castle and…
