Discussion: Minnesota Lawmaker Says DC Cab Driver Targeted Her With Islamophobic Threats

After the session wrapped, she got into a cab to her hotel. According to Omar, the driver then subjected her “to the most hateful, derogatory, Islamophobic, sexist taunts and threats I have ever experienced.”

Oh please, this cab driver probably was playing a CD of Donald Trump's greatest hits on the car stereo and that's what she overheard. Geez, people need to chill..............I mean, it's refreshing, right?

DC Cab? Let’s leave Mr. T out of this.

When they gleefully cheer the demise of PC culture, this is what they mean.

All of us are still trying to figure out what to do besides alternating between sarcasm and despair in comment sections and social media. We instinctively know we have to resist but we don’t know how. But it starts with this: rallying to the defense of those subjected to Trumpzi brownshirtism, in real time and after the fact, even knowing it’s dangerous.

Resist, people. Spread the Moral Monday movement to every Republican state capital. Protest. Defend and support the victims of the coming madness. And For fuck’s sake, focus on the enemy.

Which is interesting because generally, I’d expect the roles would have been reversed…you know, Muslim cab driver taking abuse from a white racist lawmaker.

I take cabs home often when I work late and there’s a stand downtown near where I work, so I meet and talk to these guys all the time…even have a few I consistently see over there. Once they realize not to be fooled by my suit, they’re not shy about telling me how awful the rich white guy are and how they never tip or say horrible things, etc.

Having been a college student in the early 80s, that just has a bit of a different meaning to me.

You got me there…I was still in elementary school haha. What’s the different meaning?

It’s a stain on America. We need corporate tax cuts and a rollback of environmental regulations NOW to restore our greatness.

I must be very close to [old man] ncsteve in age. The only thing that comes to mind for me is punk rockers, who used them on their faces if hardcore, or on their leather jackets if they had a planning horizon that stretched beyond next Saturday night.

But, I came from a very vanilla background and was unaware of a lot of subcultures in the US.

I want to slap all these entitled cowardly ‘American patriots’ who think they can threaten and bully people they ‘think’ are other than themselves. I’m beginning to believe this is how the Tea Party started…
