This is a nice, feel-good story. Congratulations to the two new election winners.

Cunningham says when voters found out he was transgender and black — and that his husband also is transgender — they said, “That’s who I want to represent my neighborhood.”

Priceless.

Such a wonderfully enlightened state. Hard to imagine they share borders with Wisconsin, Iowa, and the Dakota twins…

Big smile here.

Slowly, inch by inch, we are clawing our way up the social evolutionary ladder.

Some parts of it are enlightened.

I suspect that a lot of liberals in those neighboring states are drawn to MN, perpetuating the contrast.

I just watch all the 18th century crap Scotty Walker is pushing in Wisconsin, and assume, that other than parts of Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin has done been sucked dry of liberals.

These are not just your average wins. These are women and men transgenders that happen to be black.
Winning is big.
Flipping a seat is bigger.
But winning and flipping seats while black and transgendered is huge.

There are a lot of people drawn here, both liberal and conservative. Mpls-St Paul is the 11th largest metro in the country. Both SD and WS have a lot of liberal minded people, it’s just that conservatives have all the power. Mpls is hugely liberal. The whole state is conservative, except for the twin cities. Being the only state that Mondale won in 1984, we have the longest streak of liberal electoral votes in the nation (along with DC), I’m proud to say! We do have to deal with that famous Minnesota Nice, though, which is the polite way to say that many people are passive aggressive.

This is the kind of thing that reminds that, even in the era of Crime Family Trump in DC, there are still things that can make me proud of my country.

It takes a lot of “choots-pah” * to post a pic of her on TPM.

November 7, 2017, will go down in history as a pivotal turn in our political outlook. People have learned that no matter what dirty trick an opponent may throw into the contest, that the TRUTH will ALWAYS PREVAIL!

It was a GREAT VOTING NIGHT everywhere across America!

I had an arrangement to meet a girl, and I was kind of late
And I thought by the time I got there she’d be off
She’d be off with the nearest truck driver she could find
Much to my surprise, there she was sittin’ in the corner
A little bleary, worse for wear and tear
Was a girl with far away eyes

Perhaps, but Massachusetts was the only state to go for McGovern in 1972 during his historic loss to Nixon. And you just can’t be bluer (and more prescient) than that
