He actually might. Trump likes to project power, confidence, and leadership, but you can see by the way he flip-flops and his wild vacillation on any stance he takes that comes back to bite him, that he’s more likely led by the nose by someone who knows how to run him.
I see Pence more as the Dick Cheney to his G.W. Not, perhaps, the calculating political animal that Cheney was, but the grown up needing to steer the ship, even if the front man isn’t aware of it…

Pence is the perfect running mate for Trump, isn’t he? And for us, too! He is such a fucking moron.
Pence’s job is to look “reasonable” to all the folks who wouldn’t in a million years vote for Trump - unless they thought the great unhinged potato would either drop out due to to boredom or scandal before he was sworn in, or simply go AWOL to Mar a Lago and leave the Veep in charge.
Pence is there solely for reassurance; what he says about working with or on Trump doesn’t matter to the targeted voters and certainly not to Trump. He just needs to look and talk more or less sane and politician-like until November 8.
