Well I’m confused. If you’re for executing murderers and you think abortion is murder, why wouldn’t you be for executing the worthless subhuman sluts who have abortions? Or is it just that you don’t think admitting you believe that is politically expedient? Or could it possibly be that your premises are intellectually insupportable and that makes you haz a sad?

I’ve honestly never thought of that question before either but just assumed that anybody opposed to abortion on these “moral principles” would see the woman as a murderer and thus she should be treated as one. Truly very interesting and eye-opening for me.

That has been the illogical underpinning of the anti-abortion movement for a long, long time. I have contacted a few anti-abortion orgs on-line and offered them donations if they could answer the question of why the woman (and perhaps partner, too) receiving an abortion should not be prosecuted in the world they want that criminalizes the procedure. Never got a response. Their workaround for rape, incest and life of the mother is dubious, too. Further proof that the anti-abortion movement is mostly a political one, not moral.

“It’s clear he had not thought through that whole idea of do you punish the woman, and of course you don’t.”

Why not?

The only answer is that banning abortion is about punishing women for having sex, and it has nothing to do with fetal life.

Guys like the Huckster seem to be under the impression that abortion is actually a crime now, and that women who get abortions are “victims” of a crime who should not be punished, but–as Trump revised it–practitioners of abortion are the criminals.

“It was a mistake of his staff.” And Huckabee’s daughter is a senior adviser to Trump. I think this entire staff of advisers don’t have an IQ of a 100 combined.

Could Huckabee and his blue screen be any more Tim & Eric?

I’ve always been struck by the illogic of that one, too, particularly when it comes to rape and incest. Is the poor, innocent pre-baby somehow “guilty” of a crime, and therefore deserving of summary execution?

Couple that with the preponderance of men among the doctor-killers, clinic bombers, and sidewalk screamers, and it becomes abundantly clear that the anti-abortion movement has never been about the sanctity of human life. It’s always been about controlling women.

Huckabee said anti-abortion advocates have “never said” punishment should be given out to those who have had an abortion.

… but: humilitate, intimidate, deride, scorn, threaten, terrorise, shame… sure! We are a Xtian nation, after all…

Trump just pulled back the curtain and said out loud what people in the anti-choice movement have been saying for decades, when they think no one is listening.

They don’t want to punish women who have had abortions, they’ll just stick to punishing women who are thinking about having an abortion.

The pro-choice side of the debate encompasses a range of opinions from “acquiesce to it being legal because the entire topic is so fraught with moral ambiguity that it’s simply not properly susceptible to a societal solution” to “absolutely nothing wrong with it and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot!”

However, by its nature, the anti-abortion side is, by definition and of necessity, an absolutist movement. It’s adherents cannot acknowledge the existence of the slightest degree of moral ambiguity or internal contradiction because if they do so, the entire moral and intellectual foundation of their belief system must collapse. This is why the questions of rape and incest, and even “to save the mother’s life,” tie them up in such rhetorical knots. This is why they have so much trouble denouncing the murder of abortion providers.

This issue right here, though, the one Trump, in his opportunistic ignorant imbecility has blundered into, is an existential threat to their entire movement and thus categorically off-limits to all adherents. They’ve all bound themselves to a strict tacit agreement to never address it, never consider it, permit no discussion of it in public or private. They just seal it off behind a dogmatic axiomatic pronouncement that women who have abortions are somehow victims rather than infanticides and thus blameless, notwithstanding–yea, because of–the complete illogic of that position given their beliefs. And whether they really believe the officially approved line or not, it’s what they say because to say otherwise wouldn’t just unleash a crisis of conscience and existential doubt, but, far worse from the standpoint of the grifters at the top of the movement, politically and financially disastrous.

What a chump Huckabee, the dancing chimpanzee of all things misspoken, poorly said, off the scale of credibility by a thousand fold. Reeling in one more of ‘the lost plot and floating on a broken oar’ Republican crewmates One of the most vocal of these right wing morons who just make shit up as it happens to paper over the au courant hole that’s exposing their without credibility world of political bumbling.
Looking forward to Huckabee and Carson doing their tap dance routine together at the Republican convention. Tragedy and Comedy all in one routine.
How did America come to these clowns being given 2 seconds of serious consideration in any venue?

We all know where Huck Sinn stands on this since he saw nothing wrong with Dr. Tiller’s murder.

Mike Hucabee ? Looks like a lot of worms are coming out to feast on the polical corpse of Donald Trump ?
Enjoy your meal, Mike !

“It’s clear he had not thought through that whole idea of do you punish the woman”

Newsflash: That’s where the entire analysis stops. If it never mattered enough to him to even think about it, it says all we need to know about him. It’s not an excuse; it’s a condemnation.

See? Once again Trump’s logic trumps the Republican establishment’s. The base is sick of Establishment figures like Huckabee making excuses for women who murder their babies!
