Discussion: Mike Huckabee Facebook Q&A Goes Hilariously Off The Rails

Makes me almost wish I were on facebook. Here’s my question–Confederate flag: Traitor flag or loser flag?

These ad hominem attacks rival the worst on Fox news. Shouldn’t we expect better from TPM readers?

I had the privilege of interviewing Mr. Huckabee some years back–for a non-political article, I should add. He’s a warm, engaging and very funny (and intelligent) man. I doubt that I agree with any of his policy ideas, and certainly not with his eagerness to push his brand of religion into the public sphere. Argue with his ideas, for sure, but his sincerity deserves respect.

And of course every sperm is sacred…

I would have asked why he has not hired Chuck Norris as his personal bodyguard.

No it doesn’t. Plenty of people sincerely believe plenty of terrible things that doesn’t make those things/people any less terrible or anymore deserving of respect. People acting on sincere beliefs have been responsible for some of the most horrendous events in human history. So, no, Huckabee’s sincerity is in no way deserving of respect and in no way compensates for the horrible things he believes.

I think Clinton was impeached for lying under oath. It was a manufactured charge and an effort by R’s to get rid of this man who stole the White House from papa Bush.

If the man was sincere, then so was PT Barnum is what HL Mencken said of Wm Jennings Bryan.

And, he is not sincere in the sense that he’s free of guile or hypocrisy.

Huckabee could be cast as Buzz Windrip, the folksy American dictator in Sinclair Lewis’s “It can’t happen here” still in print.

We read that in high school decades ago. Doubt if many schools would assign it today, especially with so many folksy sons of bitches on our national political scene

And Hitler was nice to his dogs.

Sorry I missed that. I might have considered opening a FB account for that.

Matt,

Get ad blocker. It’s great. It works, and it’s free.

I got AdBlock through something on Google (I think). It blocks every ad. It’s great. The only downside is that I forget holidays with moving dates like Mother’s Day and Easter, but, hey, that’s okay.

Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory of the Coming of the Bullshit…

After all the bile and venom the Huckster’ has spewed about godless liberals, the gay community, a woman’s right to choose…and on and on, ad nauseum, I find it hard to see anything he says as “humorous.” He’s a jocular hangman who tells a joke right before he gleefully pulls the lever and drops the guest of honor.
He has shown much more empathy for the Confederate flag and those who wrap themselves in it than he has for the nine innocent people Roof murdered.
And as for his insistence that the Bible is the way to heal, that particular work was used to justify slavery in many parts of the world, including this country, for centuries…so Jesus Slaves. And the BigKillerGuy in the Sky wasn’t able to soften Roof’s heart even in a church and during bible study.
So…fu*k off Huck…and just SHADDUP!

When fielding the gay question he missed a golden opportunity to dis his GOP prez opponents: “I’m not gay, but let me refer you to the Facebook page of my friend, Gov. Rick Perry.”, or “I’m not available, but if you like strong, mouthy bullies please check out Gov. Christie.”
