"My children are having to choose between embarrassment and intimidation,”
Oh really? Small ones run in the family then? Just teach them to act like you and intimidate the poor girl…maybe bounce her head off a sink or two while chanting passages from Leviticus, right?
Embarrassment for his kids? Wait until all their friends learn what their dad did, pulling them out of school and going on national news because of their bathroom feelings.
These stories never make sense to me. One parent v. all the others, and he gets all the publicity. The headline should read: “Thousands and thousands of Michigan parents feel absolutely OK with trans bathroom and get on with their lives.”
OK - the headline made me think this was father who was upset that the school was not following the directive - because a trans girl (i.e., male at birth, identifies as a girl) was using the boys room.
After reading - I see its a headline problem.
Just like we never hear about all the people making toast in the morning. Just the one guy who runs around waving a piece of toast in the air insisting on showing everyone an image burned into it of Jesus and the apostoles ascending into heaven on the backs of giant fruitbats.
You know, I am not necessarily confused over this bathroom issue as much as I am wondering what people are actually thinking. This man is upset that his son was in a bathroom with a transgender child, but unless that girl was actually using the urinal (which would mean she probably had been surgically changed which at 9 is unlikely) she was probably using a toilet in a stall, not standing and staring at this man’s son, especially if a staff member was present. In most cases of bathroom use by transgender people, unless they have been surgically altered, they would have to use a stall, with a door, to use the toilet.
The transgender people I have met are not intent on causing people trouble, but if the bigots of this world are so concerned about the use of bathrooms by transgender people, one has to wonder if they have separate bathrooms in their homes for their children and spouses so that no one uses a bathroom for another sex in their home. And, God forbid, a mother should potty train a son or a father a daughter - that would amount to child molestation in their minds!
I am reminded a story my parents told me about a time they were in Denmark and my mother had to use the rest room in a restaurant. To get to the ladies’ room, she had to walk through the men’s room. It shook her up a bit being an uptight American, but the Danish hosts explained that because of space constrictions and design, it was the only way to accommodate Danish law and that while not normal, it was also not unusual. Their hosts had more trouble understanding why my mother was offended over what is a normal bodily function than the design of the bathrooms in the restaurant.
I wonder when people are going to get their bigoted minds out of the gutters of this nation and realize that people do not care how big some man is or what size cup a woman’s bra is or who they have intimate relations with, and start realizing that all people use bathrooms and only mentally ill people or bigots care who they share it with when they do. I guess when you decide you have the right to tell people how to live their lives and assume that all people are perverted jerks like this man is, then you get what we see in the government these days - people whose minds are better flushed down the toilet in which they seem to live.
I went to Southeast Elementary in that town.
It’s a trans boy, not trans girl. He idenitfies as male, so that is the correct term. Please fix the headline.
Solved it! ___ This fellow is spot on.
Ah, Howell. Home of the Howell Melon and formerly the Klan.
Something about the story doesn’t add up. Was he trying to aim his vulva into the urinal somehow, instead of using the stall? Or is the school so desperately underfunded that they can’t afford privacy stalls around their toilets?
Honestly…
Oh, please! These motherfuckers pull their kids out of school for any fucking reason they can think of that supposedly offends their “religious sensibilities”. If someone sprayed “Jesus” graffiti all over the walls of the school, and the maintenance crew cleaned it off, they would be bitching about how their “religious rights” were being erased, and oh, the persecution!
Round 2! ___
My first reaction: Good. More public school resources for the rest of the town. After my better angel weighs in: those poor boys who have that for a dad.
Outrage deserately in search of a pretext.
Not formerly
Hilarious!
If only his father had pulled out…
