Discussion: Michelle Obama Calls Trump A 'Misogynist,' Recalls Anger From 2016

C’mon TPM, ya could have picked a better image of Michelle.

It would diminish her. She needs it like a hole in the head.

They probably wanted an image where she looks pissed, to fit the story, but that was the best they could do on short notice amid the morning scramblings of an online news venue in the Trump era.

She’s Mensa level intelligent, knows the law, is civic minded, and I suspect would gut you like a fish on the dock if need be. I fail to see why the Presidency wouldn’t at least be a possibility on her personal radar.

I hear it’s called “Becoming Best”

when I hear that wish expressed, I always think “They’ve done it. They contributed and it must have been exhausting. I can’t imagine getting back into regular politics after what they’ve put up with.”

If you’re excellent at what you do, have others depending on you and pinning their hopes on you, and in your heart and mind know you can make a difference and improve the lives of others you just do it. You get out of bed, put one foot in front of the other, and just do it.

One reason might be that she knows the bullshit her husband suffered through over 8 years and she wouldn’t want to face more of the same.

From Michelle’s point of view, I would think that “misogynist” is one of the more pleasant things she could call Trump.

Maybe. But EVERY President goes through continual, unrelenting bullshit, 24/7/365. Possibly more so in this era and moving forward than in the past. That consideration alone cannot suffice as reason for turning down the job, or not running. Otherwise we may as well abolish the office, on the logical extension of your premise only irrational people with little care for their own health and well being will do it.

I know, I’ve been told she has zero wish to run. Hasn’t stopped me from having a bumper sticker on my car since late 2016: “Michelle Obama / 2020 – A Black Woman’s Place is in the White House”

Even if she never runs, it still serves the valuable purpose of making certain people’s heads explode!

For that I rely on my trust “Obama '08” sticker. Heh—just realized my car is old enough to start driving itself places now.

Haha! I have a '92 VW Cabriolet (which I bought new). I was shocked a few years ago when I realized my car is old enough to drink!

Good Lord. Well, with the money you’ve saved you can afford to buy it one.

Her words reveal a wisdom and deepth. Epitomizes WOC. 94% voted for Hillary. Strong and wise. A formidable force.

Michelle never “goes low”. She “goes real”.

We err when we posit every inspiring person as a potential elected leader, it smacks of desperation. MO’s greatest value is as a moral leader for all and an aspirational figure for young women, especially WoC, rather than getting back into the shit-fight of our electoral politics.

Hell…my car is old enough to drink.

Ha! I hadn’t read your comment when I posted that MY car was old enough to drink. However, you do have me beat…97 Rav4 here.

I get that. And I’d love the Obamas to save us. And if one of their daughters, knowing what she knows steps into politics - great. But I saw how Obama aged over his presidency, and I think he’s done enough for the cause. Every single day, especially during election times, I was so worried he’d be assassinated. If either wants to slog through another gigantic political cycle, then I support them. But I’m also not going to think less of them if they just took it easy and turned their professional lives to other things.

NO…she is not on the Offensive…but the very justified defense. A longer quote from her book was posted on TV this morning that clarified her ““deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks.” quote.

Basically she said that donnie’s unfounded birther crap threatened the lives of her family…her young daughters. TOTALLY NOT going low.
