We make frequent use of the term “derp”. [As an aside, I like Noah Smith’s formal definition of the term – see here.]
What we lack is a term for those who routinely produce or uncritically accept derp. At some point, it might be useful to have separate terms for producers and consumers, but I would start with a single term: Bundys.
I eagerly await the first New York Times appearance of the phrase: “derp-slurping Bundy.”

We all have varying degrees of intellectual competence. I have no problem with people who have a short supply. However, aggressive stupidity is dangerous. Coupled with Dunning-Kruger syndrome, where the ignorant are unable to judge their own or others competence, it leads to disaster. Couple that with a love of firearms and look out!

I wonder how much support she’d get from the wacky right if they realized she’s the one who got Cliven Bundy arrested by lobbying him to fly to Oregon, despite his misgivings … a perfect setup for the feds, who arrested him, unarmed, at the Portland airport. And, not that it matters to her supporters, but she made the Oregon standoff worse before she made it better.
so in other words, Fiore just doesn’t have a closeted husband that she has to overcompensate for.

Would have been helpful if the article pointed out that the seat is open because Heck is running for the Senate. And that it went for Obama in 2008 and 2012 (narrowly in 2012). And who she is going up against.
