This helps to restore a little bit of my faith in the Florida legal system.

This was the retrial. Finally some justice for a young black man.

And, in Florida redneck town too. This is a bit shocking. This is 2 in a row now. Let’s hope this trend continues and justice can move towards becoming color blind.

I’m somewhat surprised myself, but sometimes a case is so blatant that it’s too hard to come up with some sort of cockamamie alternative theory.

This was a slam dunk case, if one is afraid of loud music then s/he doesn’t have any business on roaming our streets. People of Florida have shown us that stand your ground laws do not provide protection to those who abuse them.

Well apparently it wasn’t to the first jury. The people of Florida haven’t shown me sufficiently that stand your ground laws do not provide protection to those who abuse them Ask the parents f Trayvon Martin and the young black woman whose husband abused her and who shoot a gun into the air to scare him away and was sentenced to 20 years

Music doesn’t kill people. People with guns kill people.
I’m so glad to see that justice was done here.

Well, he wasn’t from 'round those parts, so they could afford to give this one over.

How long before the NRA produces an "I am Michael Dunn’ bumper sticker?

And to think if he’d have just had George Zimmerman as a character witness he might have been exonerated.

The first jury already handed him 60 years in prison for shooting at everybody in the car, effectively denying him the stand your ground defense.Trayvon Martin would have been arrested and most likely sentenced for attempted murder or aggravated assault if Zimmerman did not had a gun. The woman who was sentenced to 20 years in prison made the mistake to go back in the house after removing herself from a situation of danger, effectively giving up a stand your ground defense. Having a right to self defense doesn’t mean one can abuse it.

With no provocation, a man unloads his firearm into a vehicle that at least part of the time is going away from him. How could this not be considered first-degree murder?

If this jackass had not been carrying a gun, the entire thing would be a bad memory for him of the time he mouthed off to a car full of teenagers and got punched in the face for it. Or, more likely, that time he muttered under his breath and drove off in a huff over some teens playing loud music because without his gun he’s a coward.

Either way, a life is saved and he’s not rotting in prison.

“Prosecutors say Michael Dunn shot with intent to kill when he fired 10 times into an SUV carrying 17-year-old Jordan Davis and three of his friends in November 2012.”

followed by

“The jury in the first trial deadlocked on the first-degree murder count”

The wonders never cease.

At least he got nailed this time. Now, for his second nailing…when Faux and Breitbart et al nail him to a cross.

Ridiculous. First, Martin would not have been tried for attempted first degree murder and if he was, we’d have been pointing out the racial animus motivating such inflated charges.

Second, if you think Zimmerman pretending to have the right to stop people on the street and detain and question them against the specific directions of the 911 officer who he was on the phone with is not the same as re-entering a dangerous situation and thereby manufacturing your own justification for “self-defense,” then you need to rethink it. Zimmerman was solely responsible for the situation in which he found himself. He violated someone’s rights, placed himself in a dangerous situation and then used that dangerous situation as an excuse for blowing them to kingdom come.
