I always figured cost is the first factor when a lawyer switch happens. Cohen might have some money stashed, but few individuals have the six figures (or more) lying around that it takes to keep good lawyers on hand year in, year out.
Going forward…here we are:
Michael Cohen_______________________________________________________but continues to cooperate.
Maybe now that his former team navigated him to this point he needs a different skill set to take him forward.
Or he’s turning into a liability.
Yes, though there’s also the flip scenario which has happened for several defendants in the Mueller investigation. If your attorney was being paid by someone else due to a Joint Defense Agreement you pretty much have to dump them to preserve your co-operation agreement, and you may want to change to an attorney with co-op agreement experience.
The more likely cause with Cohen is testifying before congress. That’s a very different kettle of fish than trial lawyering and co-op agreements.
The mafioski father-in-law has tons of money stashed.
he continues to cooperate with the Office of the Special Counsel, the Southern District of New York, the Office of the New York Attorney General’s Office as well as the committees of the US Congress seeking testimony from Mr. Cohen
I get the sense that they listed them all because they felt it demonstrates how fulsome his cooperation is.
They obviously forgot that this is a list of law enforcement organs who have Cohen by the short hairs because of his many serious crimes.
It’s more like listing your victims than members of your fan club.
Yup … Dead. Man. Walking.
