Discussion for article #228683
Even without a TV, or a subscription to the local rag, iâm still overly exposed to hyper-partisan campaign adds. Iâm glad to see Bloomberg money flowing to Orman, but Robertâs and Brownback are pouring a tsunami of money into adds. Brownback is focusing uniqely on taxes. Robertâs is claiming that Orman is a Democrat. And thatâs about the extent of their arguments. Simple strategies for simple minds. Neither one of them expected there to be an actual campaign this fall in order to win reelection. Surprise! People pay attention to your actions, even when you ignore them! Yes, you are expected to be accountable to the people who put you in your elected office!
A free and open stacking of specie and notes by ordinary billionaires just as the Founders imaginedâŚ
This would make great reality TV⌠Billionaire versus Billionaire
Bloomberg? Kansas? Really? How can that help Orman? Wonât the crowd that endlessly shrieks âSoros!!!â in response to just about anything jump all over that one? If I were Orman, I might say thanks, but donât âhelpâ me, Mike. They already think Iâm a Democrat. Now they might think Iâm shhhhh Jewish too. Yes, Virginia, there is something the matter with Kansas.
That is a lot of speech.
Goody, I live in the KC media market. The last thing I want to see is wall to wall Orman and Roberts spots. The Koch spots are particularly vile. On the bright side, local TV stations are sure going to be happy.
Bloomberg and Howard Wolfson. Now thereâs a political brain trust. Maybe he can coax Bob Shrum out of retirement.
I am beginning to think that Citizens United was the absolute worst thing that the Conservatives could have wanted enacted. They never cared for the laws governing campaigns anyway, so they ignored those laws and got around them whenever they could.
What Citizens United did was allow Liberals and Moderates- who respected the law- free reign and itâs rapidly catching on that they can do what the Conservatives have done all along and theyâre doing it with gusto.
YOU SAID IT. Here is a pseudo-play on that:
âHave at youâ (throws stack of money)
âHave at YOUâ (throws stack of money)
⌠election plays out ⌠billionaires still billionaires âŚ
âGood row, mate. Now if I ever see your yacht from my yacht, I will pass gas in your directionâ
Anyone doubt we need campaign finance reform?
THiS is WHAT LIBTards GET wHEN THEY NARROWLY fOCUs ALL their OUTREACH on the POOR. DEMONrats MORE and MORE IRRELEVANT everY day AND sOON to be EXTInct!!!1!!!one!!!1!!!
I wish Bloomberg would stay out of it. I donât know why it is, but the Kochs can get by with sticking their noses in states across the country, but Bloombergâs involvement is unwelcome, even resented. I think it has to do with Bloomberg being a New Yorker. Thereâs just a regional bias against the East Coast, against New Yorkers especially. I think if he runs, even Chris Christie would have to battle against that bias to a certain extent.
Golden Rule of elections.
S/He who has the most gold backing WINS!
Canât he just give secretly now? I know ego is ego, but Bloomberg should really be smarter than to go around trumpeting his involvement until after the election.
I bet they are the same ads they ran for Wheby here in Orygun but with Roberts/Orman substituted for Wheby/Merkley. Their ads werenât at all creative or intelligent.
I wonder what demographic they appeal to?
I hope the vote in the KC area and Lawrence turns out strong! The rest of the state can be kind of scary.
Not just that Bloomberg is a New Yorker, heâs also a member of the International Jewish Conspiracy donât you know? Iâm uncertain as to the current John Bircher thinking on what this conspiracy actually entails but you can rest assured that itâs heinous.
ââŚcrowd that endlessly shrieks âSoros!!ââ apparently includes TPM: Why does the URL for this story include Soros while the story itself doesnât even mention him?

Itâs funny, I saw this headline and thought âOh crap, the Republicans are bringing big outside money in to swing this race; thatâs not right.â Then I read the details and thought âSweet!â
Yes, Iâm discovering I can be a hypocrite and a partisan hack. So?
Our entire political system discussion is now in the hands of about ten people.
If Democrats ever take back the Supreme Court, the first thing is to overrule the Buckley decision that said that money is speech. Horrible ruling.
Yeah, whereâs Godzilla when you need him?
