Discussion for article #245087
Republican Gov. Rick Snyder has been a focus of criticism, but Schuette said political affiliations would not be a factor there either.
āPolitical affiliations would not be a factorā¦ā So Michael Moore was on the short list then?
Schuette declined to say how much the outside investigators will be paid.
Seems to be a running theme with Snyder not saying how he would pay for his two PR firms, and now Schuette with this.
Left out of the article is the fact that Schuette has expressed interest in running for Governor as well. This would be some kind of feather in his cap Iām sure, but to believe he would go all the way to the top to indict Snyder or the political operatives that work for him on his staff is pure fantasy. Schuette simply wonāt go there. Heāll find some low-level or middle-management operators in this crisis to indict and call it a day.
Ya know, we really need to have an investigation handled by people who we can actually trust, not an investigation handled by political buddies.
What if a terrorist did this, poison over 100,000 people?
Snyder got very few votes from Flint. Those people were just not a constituency Snyder cared about. That was the whole purpose of taking over Flint, to insulate the people controlling Flint from the citizens of Flint and to spend as little money on Flint as possible. In short the whole basis for Snyder taking control of Flint away from the people of Flint is that the citizens of Flint are less equal than other people of Michigan and that is who Snyder treated the water supply, less equal.
The fix is in.
The Thai PM Najib Razak has just been cleared of bribery accusations involving 680 million US$ by the Attorney General appointed by himself (he fired the previous AG) (620 million $ has now been returned to the giver, the Saudi Royal House, the whereabouts of the remainder is unknown )
āI am satisfied that there is no evidence to show that the donation was a form of gratification given corruptly,ā the AG said, adding that evidence did not show the donation was used as an āinducement or rewardā for Mr Najib to do anything in his capacity as prime minister.
I wonder if pRick Snyder called Krispy Kreme for advice on conducting an in depth, unbiased investigation ala the Bridgegate probe?
Honest to Godā¦we are replete with former prosecutors in this country. Iām SURE they could have found one that didnāt ādonateā to Snyderā¦
Both will report to Schuette, who promised they would provide an āexperienced and independent review of all the facts and circumstances.ā
Okay, everyone. He PROMISED. So itās all going to be fineā¦
The best probe that money can buy.
I see. So if I was to ref at the 2016 Super Bowl you ācouldnt care lessā about the Broncos hat I had on? The fix is in on this one. Its a GOPer run state and its all going to end nicely for them.
What the guy did was tell us that between a bunch of GOPersā¦in troubleā¦pollitical affilation would not matter. No it wont. Theāll all be GOPers.
Flintās Water Crisis Is A Blatant Example Of Environmental Injustice
In studying the history of environmental justice, you see over and over that it generally takes longer for poor communities to be heard when they make complaints. Government officials received complaints in April 2014 expressing that something was wrong with the water in Flint. If regulators at the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality had had to drink that water, or serve it to their children, their response would have been different.
The more information comes out, the clearer it is that this community was not treated according to the usual protocols.
10 deaths, 27,000 cases of Lead Poisoning, 87 cases of Legionnaires disease. And Counting
Flint residents deserve the same level of protection as any other Americans and not a joke and a GOP lackey to Snyder who will do nothing to fairly investigate or solve this crisis.
If Rick Snyder doesnāt serve time for this terror, then justice will not have been served.
Agree. The takeover of Flint by an EFM has been a deliberate process that Paul Rosenberg at Salon has dubbed the āDixiefication of the Midwestā. From a recent article by him that cited well known facts already obvious to a lot of us here:
āWhile the cities under emergency management together contain just nine percent of Michiganās population, they contain, notably, about half of the stateās African-American residents,ā the Atlantic reported in May 2013. Looked at another way, while Michiganās population is 14.2 percent black, Flint is 56.6 percent black, Detroit 82.7 percent, Benton Harbor 89.2 percent, Highland Part 93.5 percent, Pontiac 52.1 percent (Hispanic 16.5 percent), and Ecorse 46.4 percent (Hispanic 13.4 percent). Crushing black political power goes to the heart of what Dixiefication is all about.
The article in full is an interesting read, even if it is a tad bit longer than what most folks here are used toā¦
āDemocrats questioned whether the special counsel would be impartial.ā QUESTIONING!?! They should be shouting it from the rooftops at every opportunity!
P.S. Prime needs to either eliminate or update suggested topics - they are way past the sell-by dateā¦
Malaysia, but your point is taken. IĀ“m sure Schuette will produce an equally fair and balanced investigation.
Just think how much worse this catastrophe would have been if the EmergencyManagement hadnāt replaced elected officialsā¦!!!
