Walker:
There’s a lot of hype and hysteria, particularly in the national media, implying this is a power shift. It’s not
A quote from a source like Walker, Koch-sucker extraordinaire, is going to convince me of this for sure.
Democrats derided the moves as desperate power grabs, while Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder downplayed the scope of their actions while defending their rights to do it.
Wow, just wow. So there goes “elections have consequences” and “let the voters decide.”
If the good folks of Wisconsin and Michigan truly oppose these measures, they know what to do.
In a year of horrifying Republican moves, I’d have to say this ranks as number one with me. Stealing SC seat? We expected it. Utter corruption and rollbacks from Trump? Same. Blatant voter suppression and election stealing? Same. But this truly shocked me, which I suppose it shouldn’t have.
Wisconsin [and Michigan] Republicans pursued a direct assault on one of the most fundamental principles of democracy: the peaceful transfer of power following electoral defeat.
(kos)
Walker is technically correct when he says this is not a power shift. It merely reassigns certain powers to the legislature thereby maintaining Republican control of the governor’s office and avoiding what otherwise would have been a power shift to the Democrats.
Does anyone know which of these new license plate designs they picked?
It might be a little long, but I would suggest:
The destination in the race to the bottom.
The race is over and it’s time to declare victory:
The Bottom - Mission Accomplished
Might have to pay royalties to Dubya but that fits in with the GOP wealth transfer plan so it’s all good.
Abuse. It’s what Republicans excel at.
The Republican message is that things are bad and getting worse. They’ve learned that the Republican base doesn’t care that Republicans are intentionally making things worse to support their “message.”
Things are bad. For you and I. For lame leaders like these Republicans?
Well. They’ll get back to us. They’ve got some 7-figure job opportunities with great benefits to look into. The quicker they do that, the quicker they can drop fifty cents into our tip jars on Christmas Day.
Trickle-down wealth. Trickle-down power.
This sort of thing will only worsen until Democrats step up and begin to negatively and accurately brand the GOP as unfit for power in a democracy.
Snyder and Walker can slither back under the rocks whence they came. Their legacies are contempt for their constituents, incompetence, and broken promises. Good riddance.
I’d like to suggest a few if I may:
A Bridge Too Far
The Not So Great Lakes State
Michiganders Where Your Goose Is Cooked
or, Michigan, a new idea in mineral waters.
The people who managed to maintain the Confederacy de facto for 100 years, invented with Intelligent Design the Massive Resistance to Brown v Board of Ed, and then became experts at thwarting the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts, have developed, genetically, parts of the brain, probably possessed by Neanderthals to keep themselves in competition with the smarter Homo Sapiens by cheating and rat fuckery.
I know when Snyder ran for Governor he called himself a Tough Nerd and made a big deal about he was once the CEO of Gateway Computer. Gateway had a great reputation especially among techies. They no longer exist have sold their assets to Asus. I know Snyder was with Gateway at the beginning, but, I don’t know if he piloted the ship all the way to the bottom. The computer industry was boom and bust and volatile in those days in general so I didn’t make too much of it. However, it looks like a pattern or mangagment style to me.
Another thought on a license plate slogan that is a little more positive for the new administration might be something like: Bottomed Out, Only Up Left
If nothing else, the GOP tRump edition has taught us that there is no bottom.
