Discussion: Message To Health Care Holdouts: Relax, The Senate Will Save You

They did it 60+ times when Obama was president, and they have yet to move past that to the point of actual governance. Most of these guys have never actually done anything in their political careers besides criticize everything Obama or Democrat or liberal and it has gotten them this far - they truly are the dogs that caught the car. There is no more apt a metaphor than that oldie but goodie.

Message to health care holdouts: Your vote will be recorded and used against you in the next election cycle. And the Republicans in the Senate just stole a Supreme Court seat, do you really think you can trust them on anything?

Lyin’ Ryan’s minions are telling their members not to worry about the consequences of what they do because the grownup sin the Senate will clean up their mess.

And these are the ones who pontificate about principles and personal responsibility. What a bunch of craven hypocrites.

It’s a tax/appropriations bill so it has to originate in the House.

My impression was wrong apparently then.
A 0.9% surcharge seems awfully paltry to me
But then I’ve never had the feelings of victimization a surcharge would bring.

I appreciate you correction.
thx

Correct me if I am wrong but my reading of Article 1 section 9 indicates that an appropriation could originate in either chamber.
“No money shall be drawn from the treasury, but by consequence of appropriations made by law.,…”

However, section 7 says:
“All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives, but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other bills”

“Revenue” is the key word here.

Jeezus. Profiles in courage. Disgusting.

What is Brat’s position on the pre-existing conditions ban? Because if you accept that, you accept the structure of Obamacare. Ditto for other Freedom Caucus members. I only ask about Brat because I’m curious whether he decides to give an economically literate answer, commensurate with his training.

You would think that threat might move them. But I don;t know how much teeth that has given the abject dumbfuckery of the electorate.

And now it seems the key so-called “moderates” are now on board.

So here we go.

“Let’s get it over to the Senate. It is not the final bill. It will go to the Senate, and it will be changed.” - Rep. Jim Renacci (R-OH)

So, you have to pass a bill in order to see what’s in it…? I get that right? To quote the great orange demagogue: “Who knew?”

Ah, you’re right. This does change taxes though, so maybe that means it falls under that? Strictly speaking it decreases revenue, but it’s about raising revenue.
