Discussion: Merkley Passes On Presidential Bid, Will Run For Third Term In Senate Instead

“I’ve never shied from a fight, and there’s nothing about the field that would make me reluctant to be there,” Merkley said.

I’ve appreciated certain things he’s done in Washington.

Glad he took the time to decide about running in 2020 and glad also that he’s now able to state his near-term intentions clearly.

Aww, gee.

So far, I feel like I’m in a very glitzy store, but there’s nothing I want to buy.

This means that if Ed Markey runs, I won’t be confusing them.

Sounds like good judgement to me. Just because you could run for president doesn’t mean you should.

Good. He is an effective senator, and a progressive in the Senate who knows how to get things done. We also don’t need another candidate who is pushing for “We take away your health care plan, and you will get your health care from the Governement from now on” AKA “Medicaid for all”, which polls in the mid-20s.

I’m one, of many Oregonians, that celebrates this decision! You’ll have my support for your reelection.
