Discussion: Member Of Trump's Hispanic Advisory Board Resigns After Phoenix Speech

Good. I’ve my own thoughts about taking so long to reach this conclusion but I’m not in his shoes. I hope he’s the first of many.

I was a strong supporter of Donald Trump when I believed he was going to address the immigration problem realistically and compassionately

I’m thinking this fellow hasn’t been paying attention.

What exactly had the good Senors been listening to that made them think Senor Naranja would change position, or that he hadn’t been batshit crazy and racist from the start?
Nothing changed, except maybe a touch more spittle last night.

As usual, I don’t agree with piling criticisms on the people who left Trump.
A win is a win (for us).

I am really curious what happens in Mexico in the next few days.
If Pena suffers big blowback, Trump won’t look good.

Well, the Mexico City Legislature just declared Trump persona non grata …

Compare this to Obama in Berlin in 2008 where 100K+ cheered him at the Siegessäule (Victory Column).

“What I heard today was not realistic and not compassionate.” (Jacob Monty, former member of HO’s “Hispanic Advisory Board”)

Really? That just started … today? Wasn’t paying any attention when he physically mocked a disabled man in front of thousands of people and on camera for the whole world to see? The things he’s said about various women? That went over your head, too?

“It’s so disappointing because we feel we took a chance, a very risky chance,” Aguilar, who organized Latino conservatives to support Trump in a letter, told Politico. “We decided to make a big U-turn to see if we could make him change. We thought we were moving in the right direction … we’re disappointed. We feel misled.”

“I can tell you there’s a real possibility we will withdraw support from Donald Trump because of that disappointing speech," he added.

Just a possibility? My gawd, what the fuck would it take for you to A) Admit you were wrong to support and campaign for HO; and B) Support the side who has stated goals so similar to yours, they’re almost identical in some ways, and work for and with that side to determine what sort of compromises she’s willing to work out with you? Is it because you’re socially conservative and just can’t stand those icky gays and trans people? (which, I suspect, that’s a large part of it) – If so, well, you’re frick outta luck, there, buddy, because we are also part of the American tapestry. Hillary and the Democrats welcome us. But you know what? – She and we (the LGBTQ people) welcome you … so long as you understand we’re not going anywhere and that we have just as much a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as you. Also, is it the choice issue? Well, there’s a reason we use the term ‘choice.’ You get to make yours and others get to make theirs. I can’t make it any simpler than that. Still, please know we will welcome you with opening arms when you’re ready. Think about it. Seriously. Thanks.

Trump: It only proves that Hispanics are dumb in addition to being rapists. I have been saying the same things for months/years: I want them out of this world; vote for me at your own peril.

If he’s this gullible to believe anything spewed from that orange pie hole, I fear what the rest of that board are thinking. And do they realize there are many more pressing issues he is silent about. He is not fit for the presidency, don’t they realize that?

“We’re disappointed. We feel misled. We were sure that putting up our good faith money would get us a share of the millions this Nigerian prince has.”

Hey guys I thought being on the left was about compromise? If you can’t understand why some one would try and work with some one with differing views then who is the obstructionists? Mr. Monty tried, this is not the last days of the campaign, and Mr. Monty has time to denounce HO and get behind Hillary.
It taught Monty and all of us that HO is the Scorpion King. He is not going to change, he may dancing around this issue, but in the end he’ll sting you.

What’s that old saying…“there is none so blind as he who will not see”?

They kept seeing what they wanted to see and not what was actually there.

That strange sound you are hearing today are the scales falling from their eyes.

I’m thinking he doesn’t like HRC…

Aguilar and others really need to pull their heads out of their respective asses. Really.

Hell, go back to his announcement speech - how any Hispanic could miss the explicit message and still support HO is beyond me.

@fiftygigs: he doesn’t like the idea of the government rifling through the personal lives of every tanned person. Well, HO encourages that for everyone else, just not himself.

I miss the days of Republican flip flopping. What Trump is doing is pathological.

I guess the last thing he listened to before hitting the stage was the greatest recorded hits of Adolf Hitler. All they were missing was the Nazi insignia.

What, he doesn’t like the idea of the government rifling through the personal lives of every tanned person on the planet, first in this country to decide who’s got the qualities that “work for America” and then around the world to see who has the qualities that “work for America?”

Seriously, I am surprised that the conservative movement is now in love with government snooping into everybody’s lives. Are the Bundy’s Hispanic or illegal? Dunno. Dispatch an agent to investigate their background.

How about you? Are you Hispanic? Well, let’s just have government take a look-see, shall we? If you’re not, then you don’t have anything to worry about, right?

Government never screws up, does it, conservatives?

Not quite. Compromise is a tool, not a goal. If you can find common ground with someone on the other side you can work together on the topics you agree on and compromise on the ones you don’t. In the end you can still achieve something.

In this case what would be the common ground we agree on that would enable us to compromise on the things we disagree on yet still achieve something? I don’t know that I see anything.

Do NOT make me laugh. Obstructionism has been the only game the Right has endorsed and played for Obama’s entire term. Do NOT accuse Latinos who taunt Monty for being on Trump’s side until last night in particular or Democrats who do the same of obstructionism. The left or center left in this country has not a history of obstructionism. The Dixiecrats do, they defeated every attempt to pass Civil Rights legislation before 1964. They organized “Massive Resistance” to Brown v Board of Ed, and the whole 450 filibusters during Obama’s first 6 years.

you have to be kidding me.
