I really hope the best for that kid, but if it all comes tumbling down like I expect it will, he won’t fare well in the long run. Maybe his mother will do the right thing and get him far away from here where they can start over. Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of faith in her doing anything of the sort. She seems like the type to hang around screaming about her family and claiming everybody’s innocent.

I was thinking Nancy Reagan was using Lady M as a vessel for her “Just Say No” campaign. Doesn’t Lady M know that the fastest way to get addicted to opioids is get injured, go to doctor, and get a prescription?

The dangers of opioid addiction are ceaselessly publicized and talked about. In the media, among friends, at work and school and home. It’s like cancer, everyone knows someone that suffers from it, and is a witness to its ravages. Is there ever a point it’s incumbent upon the individual to ignore those peddling the stuff, and make a personal choice to forgo abuse?
Yes, I’m aware no small number of people sucked into this hellhole started out treating real pain and suffering. They got addicted, and have trouble quitting. But is that the majority of those addicted? Or is the majority abusing them for some variant of recreational purposes? Merely to get high? I haven’t seen that broken down in a peer reviewed study. It would be interesting to know. And yes, whatever the reason, they need help kicking the habit and getting clean. That’s complicated, expensive and has a high rate of failed attempts.
But I still say don’t start in the first place, and if you have quit.
