Discussion: Meh: Nearly Half Of Americans Don't Care Who Controls Congress

Nearly half of Americans are cretins, so it makes sense.

I guess the concern trolls are winning. sigh

You conveniently neglected some differences. Preserving and strengthening the social safety net, making government work, repairing the infrastructure, privatization of SS and Medicare/Medicaid, access to health care, universal enfranchisement, education funding, research funding, and respect for differences. Yes, the last two Dem presidents have been corporatists, but it’s the not the entire party, and it is a lot easier to get Democrats elected who will address the things you identify as important than it is to get Republicans who care about those things elected. But thanks for your concern.

They didn’t ask me. I certainly care.

“Nearly Half Of Americans Don’t Care Who Controls Congress”

And that’s exactly why we have the dysfunctional government we do. Too many people just don’t give a rip – and they ought to, because it’s their jobs and their tax money, and their lives, even, that are at stake.

I was really of two minds about that committee. To the extent that it is stacked, I wasn’t crazy about the idea of Democrats participating, but on the other hand, you don’t want their crazy allegations going unchallenged, either. I trust Nancy Pelosi’s political instincts, though, and if she thinks participating is the better choice, I’m good with it.

Milt Shook proves your bullshit wrong.

That’s about the number who couldn’t tell you what congress actually is.

Originally, I believed we shouldn’t participate, but came to realize that was silly. You can’t make high-minded arguments in America today. The citizenry must be beat over the head with pomp and circumstance to the point of exhaustion.
