Discussion for article #239262
The guy is pure âpuppetâ â plain and simple â
Walker has always seemed wrongâtoo slippery and propped up with questionable analyses. Now we can see why.
ALEC is just the pretty, diversified version of the Koch agenda.
One of the very first high-profile bills Walker was associated with
during his time as a state legislator was a 1998 tough-on-crime âtruth
in sentencingâ bill that caused Wisconsinâs prison population to balloon.
Have you looked at your own graph? The rate of imprisonment approximately quadrupled from 1978 to 1998. Since then, the incarceration rate has remained relatively flat. I donât understand how one can look at that graph and conclude a law passed in 1998 caused the prison population to explode.
Enlighten me.
Donald Trump: A Tornado
Scott Walker: A Thermo-nuclear strike at a directed target
Wisconsin prison population rose 33% (from 15,000 to 20,000) from 1998 to 2000. Source: Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
The graph of prison population shows the rapid rise in Wisconsin occurred before 1998. Otherwise, this article outlines a frightening future for nearly every Americanâs private and common weal. Since the MSM abets this dystopia, most Americans never know what is happening; and many support such laws, especially the 2nd Amendment guardians against government tyranny.
Do you anticipate any POTUS candidate using such information to openly challenge ALEC in her/his campaign? How about for governor? You wonât have to go to outer space for no one to hear you scream.
Of all the GOP candidatesâŚfar and away the most dangerous to American democracy.
Breaks the law, lies, gets away with it. If he ever got into the White House backed by a GOP majorityâŚdisaster!
Fascinating article that pulls back the curtain on Walkerâs puppet strings, explaining the basis for his sleazy tactics in state politics. Thanks for publishing it.
Brian Murphy kills it again as he continues to rake the FitzWalkerstan muck. Murphy in particular and this kind of journalism in general are our best weapons against the kind of industrial-scale sleaze and corruption that have become Scott Walkerâs stock in trade. Go Brianâgreat work! I hope youâre putting together enough of this stuff to publish a book, should Walker become the GOP nominee.
âShould Walker become the GOP nomineeâ evokes, for me, the same feeling as, âshould the meteor swing near earthâ.
So Walkocher can bust the More-Perfect-Union?
I usually try to find humor in the right-wing horror show, but â all kidding aside â this is the guy whoâs scared me the most from Day One.
Walker is the hands-down choice of plutocrats: a ruthless, calculating, and well-funded sociopath; a loyal apparatchik who only follows orders when purging Wisconsin of politically degenerate ideas like minority voting, open government, and public education.
Many posters whom I respect believe his background is so shady and full of potential scandal that he canât survive public scrutiny â but that assumes a sane press, not one thatâs brain dead, co-opted, or laughably incompetent. So you see the problem right there.
GOP candidates like him can navigate the low-information-voter terrain easily â as his electoral success to date testifies. Dismiss his chances at your own peril.
(BTW, AZ Gov. Ducey is the next product in the Koch/ALEC pipeline; and behind him are a deep bench of under-the-radar, up-and-coming, well-groomed clones.)
Pure evil.
Walker has always been for hire to the highest bidder. Upon taking office he closed down the Department of Commerce and formed the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) making himself as Chairman of the Board. It turned out it was a way to funnel taxpayer money to his donors. It acted like an ATM, put in $10,000 campaign donation, take out a $500,000 unsecured loan (he has now forgiven those loans including another for 1.4 million). If you google WEDC scandal there is plenty there.
Those of us in Wisconsin have seen his corruption and hoped that as he ran for the presidency, he would not hold up as the spotlight shone on his sneaky, underhanded ways. His latest oops moment revolved around his thinly veiled attempt to subvert democracy through striking down our Open Records law so he and his cronies could govern in secrecy.
As I said, he is pure evil. Donât let him do to our country what he has done to Wisconsin.
Your post and IrasDad above duplicate my sentiments exactly.
Walker has my complete attention. He may resemble Gofer of âThe Love Boatâ, but that, itself, is part of the Disguise Of The Menace.
ditto.
I live in Wisconsin.
I cannot tell you how many people in my end of the State are pleased as punch with Walker.
The nation could be convinced. Seriously. They could easily be convinced because NO ONE is banging the drum on his ties to ALEC.
However, my suspicion is, even if he were irrevocably tied to ALEC, there are enough people out there who believe that ALEC is the direction the country should go to take back the nation from the âotherâ that these folks are so afraid of.
Iâve spent some time in recent weeks, watching televised programs detailing the rise of Hitlerism 80 years ago. Thereâre some very dangerous parallels there with whatâs happening now. ALEC is the propaganda arm and they are VERY successful because we arenât paying enough attention. Just like then.
Most people who were children after World War II did NOT expect this to be the social landscape of the United States.
There are others in the GOP 17 with ties to ALEC. Itâs not just Walker.
In the eyes of the Koch brothers, Scott Walker possesses which of the following skills which make him qualified to be president?
1) Boot licker for the rich.
2) Fluffer for the rich.
3) Brown noser for the rich.
4) Meat smoker for the rich.
5) Puppet of the rich.
6) None of the above.
7) All of the above.
