Don’t these deeply religious fundies view themselves and want others to view them as one entity, especially after decades of marriage?
Why I know many long-term married couples who hate one another and haven’t spoken in years but still reside in one dwelling and present a united economic front…loveless and moneyless are two very different things.

In more conventional criminal cases, prosecutors regularly prove conspiracy among groups of people who are simultaneously trying to bump one another off. I’m thinking that it might not be beyond folks like this to perjure themselves for the sake of an acquittal.

Whether McDonnell allowed/gave Johnny Williams more than basic access, which is unbelievable on it’s own, doesn’t really matter. The fact that he accepted the bribes and played along is the crux of the issue. Its kind of a, in for a penny-in for a dollar, sort of thing.
If he wants to spill his supposed marital problems and let the world know that his wife was a supposed loon with no self control and apparently horny as hell, then fine, let loose. That doesn’t remove the fact that both of them were exploiting the privileges of the office.
I believe guilt is a given and McDonnell is angling for a lighter sentence. Especially since life in prison is a possibility.
And on a side note; how 'bout these Republicans eh! The Kochs can manage their free billions but they can’t pick politicians for squat.
