Discussion for article #227321

BoMo rolled the dice and lost. Cry me a river.

McDonnell is just lucky they’re giving him 4 months to get his house in order before sentencing. His sentence will most likely be knocked down eventually from some lengthy time your typical corrupt male politician would normally serve for these offenses, to something more commensurate with how white he is. And to be sure, he is the epitome of whitey whiteness on whitebread.

The brave men and women of our justice system – prosecutors, lawyers, investigators, others in the staff and in supporting roles – deserve our respect for bringing this evil christianical criminal and felon who was willing to trash his solemn wedding vows, throw his wife under the bus, and abuse the power of his high office to enrich himself with bribes.

The folks in the justice system took on great personal risk and powerful interests in the Republican elite to bring Governor Transvaginal Probing to justice.

This appeal should go about as well as Gov.'s strategy of throwing his wife under the bus.

Or did they just get angry once they offered him a way out and he didn’t take it?

I believe they tried. Too bad, so sad.

No doubt we’ll hear RW talking heads bringing up what “the definition of ‘is’ is.”

Proper response being “So you think what BoMo is trying makes what Clinton did acceptable?”

So the appeal is basically the “do-nothing governor” addendum to the “crazy wife” defense?

AHA! Is is. ISIS! Clinton is tied to ISIS!

OMG, please tell me there is not really a lawyer named “Dickstein Schapiro.” Sounds like a Jon Lovitz character from SNL. Oh, wait – I guess Dickstein Schapiro is the name of the law firm. That’s marginally better, I guess. But only marginally.

Even if the McDonnells manage to overturn their convictions, they are permanently tainted. Nobody is going to forget that tawdry trial any time soon.

Don’t forget to give some credit to the jury for refusing to have the wool pulled over their eyes.

I’m not so sure anyone took great personal or professional risk bringing this case to trial. By the time they left office, the McDonnells had done a pretty good job of making themselves objects of disgust for nearly everyone.

“…the issue is going to be that the jury instructions were too broad…”

To think, had he not been caught, we’d be listening to him lecture everyone on their inferior morals and family values. Whenever I think of that I say “String him up”.

The Rolex wrist was on its own time…

He was given the opportunity to accept a plea bargain and his indictment was delayed until he was out of office. I’d call that coddling the criminal.

He’ll be appealing from prison, right??

What Defines An ‘Official Act’???

Acting as an Official of a State. Duh.
