I guess a 49 state strategy is better than nothing, but still what disturbs me most is what a sad sack the Democratic Party must be in Mississippi. The least-bad Republican allegedly turned out more Democratic votes than the Democrat, just by asking.

McDaniel was endorsed by the Brawler of the Klondike. She has such a success rate.

What’s a hard working teabagger got to do? If going to KKK rallies and breaking into old folks homes won’t get 'er done, then she maybe she just can’t be done.

There was some ballot bullshit too, IIRC, when McDaniels team got mysteriously locked in with the ballot boxes. Oh well, the crazies had something to stay riled about and with teabaggers, that is their mission statement.

Democrats, numerically, are stronger in MS than in a lot of deep-red states. The problem is the racial polarization: 40% people of color, 40% Democrats, and the two populations are nearly identical.

The leadership of the state party, which is somewhat whiter than its membership (e.g. Travis Childers), is pretty feckless–but also fighting against the absolute neglect of the national party, who hears the word “Mississippi” and walks away laughing.

This is the real frustration of being a MS Democrat–in a state that had any swing voters whatsoever, we’d win an occasional election. And Jim Crow reputation to the contrary, the median MS Republican voter is probably a smidge more reasonable than in states where the Tea Party has really caught on: very conservative, but not inclined to burn the house down. (McDaniel is kind of a black swan in that regard, and he’s probably poisoned the well for any future TP candidates.)

Yes, kill McDaniel to remove him from our misery.
