Cochran team will lose this, but is just running out the clock.

Edit: “this” = the motion, not the overall challenge to the runoff results

Like everything every bagger ever does = Epic failure!

McDaniel’s reaction:

Cochran thinks McDaniel is getting ideas.

At least keep it going for the elections in November…

Since we all know that laws really don’t apply to Republicans, I am unsure how this one goes.

I bet you laughing rights Cochran wins on the 20 day time limit.

LOL. I can risk that. Especially since I just snuck a laugh in.

The passage cited by the TPM article, which may or may not be relevant and in context, clearly refers to an election where the electorate is all in a single county. I am basing my bet on that, so TPM owes me a laugh if I lose.

Edit: I see that TPM’s version of the passage shifts from “county” to “country” part-way through. I may be in trouble here.

You have to look at how the law was interpreted by the courts and in Kellum (the case cited in the motion), the Mississippi Supreme Court expanded the law to include primaries in state, congressional and judicial districts.

I did look through that just now, and I’m shaking my head over the reasoning of the MSC in that case. Elections are run by counties, so I do find it quite reasonable that the legislature specifically set a time limit for an election involving only a single county without intending the same limit to apply for a statewide contest involving (at current count) 82 different counties.

I can see how McD might lose in circuit court, which might be unwilling to overturn the old MSC ruling, if more recent legislation doesn’t explicitly address the MSC reasoning, but McD might have a better chance in a new appeal to the MSC.

By then, the general election will be over and done.

Oh the poetry if this argument wins. Outfoxed on runoff day and then bitches and moans so much and so long that he files suit too late.

I stand with McDaniel and urge all his supporters to stay home Nov 4.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. What a sad, pathetic man McDaniel is.

But but but…that would be a violation of the law! If you don’t vote for your party nominee, your vote is illegal and invalid!

And if the McDaniel campaign encouraged people to stay home, they would be accessories to the crimes and subject to prosecution.

I am smiling. This was such a waste of time. Now McDaniel will take the David Duke tour of raising money.

A well-earned grin.

I have a Miss. Supreme Court Hail Mary play diagrammed on my play board. But it will take money, my friends. Please give today.
