Discussion: McCrory Falls Behind by Nine Points In North Carolina Governor's Race

Not much, IMO. It was just One More Thing. The coal ash situation has been a far bigger problem for him. But even that just added to a growing sense of loathing and disgust with him and with a radically crazy legislature that gerrymandered itself into bunker districts before demolishing the public schools and, of course, the special object of their ire, the University of North Carolina system, which was the most powerful force for progress in the state for a century and the engine that once drove the state’s rapidly declining status as a major tech center.

The disgust wasn’t enough to actually get Democrats off their asses to vote in a goddamn midterm in 2014, because God forbid, but we’re going to get to see if the dilution of Republican strength necessary to gerrymander as many districts as they did makes them vulnerable to a wave.

His defeat would provide a joy that could only be surpassed by the end of Daryl Issa’s career…

OMG! Do I dare hope the worms are turning for these republicans?

As someone stuck with a Bagger nightmare for the next 3 1/2 years…sigh…I truly hope you will see the end of this monster and the beginning of a new day in NC.

Choke, Baby, Choke…

Indeed!

McCrory was born in Columbus, Ohio. And your point is?

That Ohio is the nicest level of Hell.

That Yankee sure makes a nice NC accent when yakking. But unless he goes down 15 he is still within the protection of the good ol boy network. And IIRC NC residents are pretty cagey about talking to outsiders about their voting intentions :frowning:

This sums it up for me.

Please, please, PLEASE don’t get complacent. Vote.

I may be whistling while I work, but I am working

I know about McCrory from my brother and sister-in-law who live in NC. My brother is retired Army and tends to vote Republican, but his wife is a long-time teachers’ aide and school bus driver, and their daughter graduated from UNC. They hate McCrory for what he has done to the education budget.

You can’t say it enough. Vote in 2016 and especially in 2018.

I cancelled plans for a very large family reunion in the Outer Banks and let the tourism and chamber of commerce folks know exactly why I was doing it. We went to Myrtle Beach instead and had a wonderful time, so Myrtle Beach is our new go-to place, and we won’t be going back to North Carolina anytime soon.

McCrory: These polls do not include the undercover voters who will vote for me but are too ashamed to admit it.
Trump: Exactly.

Saw an interesting ad this morning supporting McCrory from several law enforcement groups. Person talking was an officer that had gotten shot and McCrory visited him in the hospital and later when he was home “brought him a meal”. Dude was an overweight white guy with buzz cut. I’m guessing he looks like the majority of the members of all those groups.

Well if you think folks are more liberal in SC you might be fooling yourself, even if they haven’t banned trannies from choosing their bathrooms…yet…

I don’t think folks are more liberal in SC, possibly they’re less, but they have no bathroom laws, and nobody displayed any animus to my gay relatives.

My “point” is NE liberals are changing the voting patterns in NC by moving there. Hello?
