Discussion for article #224119
Dear GOP Leaders,
Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please shut down the government again!!
Signed,
Every Democrat in the Country
âŚuntil the administration certified that it wouldnât harm jobs or raise utility rates.
Yeah, these Republican dimwits are all about jobs and expenses for the middle class. This isnât about removing an inconvenience for the energy companies at all.
being spooked is what the democrats do well
exactly, why are the democrats so afraid, oh what nevermind they are democrats
âIt appears Senate Democratic leaders are worried that the McConnell amendment might pass â or at least put their vulnerable red-state members in a tough spot.â
Tough sh*t. Can nobody vote their conscience anymore, let alone what might be in the best long term interests of their constituents and the country?
Chickensh*ts.
Empty posturing. As Bloomberg & The Guardian already pointed out, coal-producing states will get to increase their emissions under the new EPA rules, push methane, even more dangerous than CO2, & donât have to account for leakage in their number reporting. EPA rules are smoke and mirrors and GOP resistance against it also just more kabuki: why-some-states-may-actually-get-to-increase-carbon-emissions-under-new-epa-rules
No. Being spooked is what SOME Dems do well. Not all, by any means. And for those Dems who are spooked (like Landrieu and Begich, specifically) itâs not coming from the electorate, itâs coming from the fossil-fuel industry.
Can you spell K-O-C-H? Obama knew when he promulgated these rules that it might âharmâ Democratic candidates and he did it anyway, with deliberation. After all, the supposed âharmâ that would come to them for supporting Obamacare has largely disappeared, with even the GOPâs Vitter saying he would support Medicaid expansion as Gov. of LA.
Obama decided to do what is right for the country, what 70% of the people want for the country (rein in carbon pollution). If there are Democratic cowards, this also outs them. And shows the GOPers up for what they are, marchers to the tunes of the Kochs.
It goes without saying that the three DINOS mentioned are spineless, but if they lose their seats we no longer have a Democratic majority in the Senate, and what would happen without that majority is to horrible to contemplate. They may be wimps, but theyâre our wimps, paraphrasing LBJ.
I think the issue is more that you need a group of not nobodies to vote their consciences. Otherwise, you arenât in office to vote at all.
F8ck the GOP. When you have more crap happen like in Charleston (or Baytown, TxâŚetc) and your kids are suffering from various maladies, point your finger directly at these gated community-living, one percent water-carrying a-holes.
I am disappointed that the bill is being âre-consideredâ.
By all means, the bill should be put to a vote soonest. Those voting against it should have their vote used against them in the upcoming elections. [Incumbent candidate name here] voted against a bill that would have put stricter rules on coal emissionsâŚ
Wouldâve been a winning campaign for just about anyone.
In the meantime, those that prevented the bill from coming up? Their opposition should use that against them.
âSpooked Democratsâ is redundant. Just say âDemocratsâ.
Face it.
Senate Democrats are âspookedâ by their own shadows.
If the Republicans want to slit their own throats in an election year to assuage the Tea-Bagger-Wing of the party, LET THEM.
If you donât support your own agenda then what the hell good are you?
Jesus, Harry.
You finally acquired some balls. Now get 'em out again.
With all due respect, theyâre energy states.
Hereâs one bit of good the DINOs do. They maintain the Democratic majority in the Senate and without it the crazy Rs in the House who are clamoring for impeachment might get the 2/3 majority in the Senate that is needed to convict. I hope that somewhere deep down in their corrupt souls the House Rs who would move this forward consider all the side effects including having Joe Biden as President.
Understood.
Opposition is relevant, particularly with (virtually) minimum majorities.
