Thanks NeverHillary. You really showed us!
Corrected Headline:
McConnell admits to obstruction of Obama Judicial Nominees
Â
Short version:
GOP: We Cheat and we're Proud of it
donât forget the ex-husband of a staff member sent disgusting emails, and she (whispers) uses the restroom
This is absolutely right. And if Harry Reid hadnât finally done it for District and Appellate Court judges, Obama would never have gotten to fill as many positions as he did. It is those additional judges that have been the single biggest block on Trumpâs illegal and unconstitutional efforts.
Every time McConnell opens his lying mouth, decent people feel nauseated.
Heâs got some fucking nerve.
And AP goes along with that narrative. Seriously fuck them, the bothsiderists in the media are as much to blame for this mess as the Republicans who take advantage of the cover they provide.
âHe gets credit on two counts. One is keeping a number of these judgeships open during the final year of the Obama administration,â
Pride in subverting the constitutionally mandated right of the Obama to nominate judges. Pride in treachery. The GOP is disgusting.
Is Jill Stein sitting at home this morning, deluding herself into thinking that President Hillary Clinton would have stacked the federal judiciary with a bunch of corporate, anti-labor, ant-environmental, pro-discrimination, anti-regulatory, pro-gun, anti-due process jackasses? Is she happy yet with her self-absorbed fantasy of being elected President? Is Gary Johnson happy? Is Susan Sarandon and the rest of the cotton-headed pea-brains who thought there was no difference between Trump and Clinton happy with this mess?
So many +1s. Iâm still (and forever, I think) infuriated with my (some former) âfriendsâ who spent the election season moaning about lesser-of-two-evils, theyâre-all-the-same, I-hate-Hillary, the DNC-is-rigging-the-primaries, even if they finally did get out and vote for the Democratic candidate. We all had a duty to try and drag her over the finish line in order to prevent the horror weâre now experiencing, and Iâm sure our precious conscience voters helped to depress turnout.
I never understand this, but Democratic voters never seem to fully grasp the importance of the courts and how control of legislatures and executive offices determines control of the courts. The court shouldâve been one of the top 3 issues in last yearâs campaign and it wasnât. It was a big deal for Republicans, but not for Dems. Itâs also a reason why the other side votes in midterms and we donât. Hopefully, that changes for 2018, but we lost a great opportunity to shape progressive courts for a generation when 25% of Bernie supporters did something other than vote for HRC on Election Day.
The hand-wringing about âwe shouldnât have changed the rules, because now the McConnell is using these rules. . .â is nothing short of baffling. McConnell would have changed the rules in a second.
As soon as McConnell made his declaration that he must do everything possible to cause pain for Americans so long as Obama is President, the rules needed to be changed. By leaving in place rules that allowed McConnell to inflict pain on Americans, through many means, Democrats paved the way for Republicans to take office.
Who gives a flying fuck what Jill Stein is doing?
Sheâs done a lot of damage.
Too many Democratic voters seem to miss a number of things:
- The courts, as you say;
- local elections;
- voting strategically rather than emotionally; and
- showing up when it counts, i.e. EVERY TIME: midterms, and even when youâre not âexcitedâ.
I have added him to my âNorquist Pledgeâ and Death Panel Celebration List. I hereby pledge that I will immediately get drunk, no matter the hour of the day, that I receive news report of the respective deaths of Orrin Hatch, Chuck Grassley, Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell. I didnt get to drink when Arlen Spector passed on (he did a horrible hit job on Anita Hill at the Clarence Thomas confirmation hearings) but I did get to see him driven from the GOP by right wing racist Dixiecrats who took over the party post-Reagan. I even got a solicitation from Spector requesting campaign contributions because of the anti-Semitic hate mail he had received during his fall from GOP affiliation.
