Discussion: McConnell: US 'Must Be Prepared' To Reinstate 'Maximum Pressure' On NK

Once again a profile in courage, Turtle.

As usual, Trump is adopting the language of our adversaries. Reporting is that the Pentagon is Not Happy with Trump rolling over and showing his belly to Kim.

Sounds like a turtle-wrangler whose mount got away from him.

Unpredictable and untrustworthy, temperamentally shaky, ungrounded. Who knew trying to steer Donald Trump through precarious international relations could be so complicated?

I mean, aside from than everyone who comments here and everyone who voted for Hillary Clinton.

We’re now learning that South Korea is completely bemused about the suspension of the ‘war games,’ i.e., deterrent military exercises, it jointly conducts with US.

Another piece of the authoritarian axis falls into place. South Korea, a functioning friendly democracy and open society, will soon be the new Canada. This is all so obvious.

Wait… did we agree to lax sanctions in the deal, i don’t think i saw that anywhere. Only thing i saw was saying we will pay millions for bodies and we will stop doing are joint military exercises.

It is going to be so hard for NK to follow through on all the promises it didn’t make.
Except for the idea about showing up at the White House for another photo op.

Well, he was just “doing what he’s seen done.”

O/T Wasen’t the IG report suppose to be released today??

“Reinstate maximum pressure”? It sounds like the US and its “allies” dropped the sanctions. 90% of North Koreas’s trade was with China. If the Chinese drop the sanctions, then this was a something for nothing exchange. And Trump had the nerve to call the Iran nuke agreement the “worst deal ever.”

Yep, that’s what I had heard as well. That they were more or less blindsighted by the Dotard agreeing to pull US troops out of SK. My questions is: why? As in, why be blindsided when our military must KNOW he’s going to do something supremely stupid. This was it. Most everyone knew some turd was in the pipeline on this misadventure.

Words. That’s all they do anymore…and they suck at even that.

Should North Korea “not prove willing to follow through,” he said, “we and our allies must be prepared to restore the policy of maximum pressure.”

Which allies might that be? Do we have any, now?

Trump said later that there won’t be any new sanctions, and China is already talking about reducing them — which means China is just going to stop enforcing them even to the limited extent that it has done recently, and Trump won’t complain about it.

I’m curious to see if the military speaks of “grave concern,” or anything like that, in light of this. I guarantee you, if the party affiliation was different they would.

China just wants the sweat labor. The real winner is Russia and the sale of her gas to North Korea by going through there to South Korea where the real market is. Well played Putin, well played.

So we are removing sanctions, and stopping joint exercises for…

Yet democratic senators want to expand Trump’s ability to wage war and detain people without trial?
