The stress test of our democracy is only just beginning. This is a pure dictator’s move. Emergency powers are the bread and butter of tyrants. And once he declares one bogus emergency and realizes that he can get away with it, in the short term, other emergencies will be declared.
On the plus side, if Dems start expressly talking about the health care emergency, not to mention the climate emergency, both of which are real, our next president will be able to act as needed.

I am hoping President Kamala Harris, declares an environmental emergency and slaps a five dollar a gallon tax on gasoline and bans all the monstrous trucks they are building lately; and an emergency on gun violence and bans all handguns, and all rifles and shotguns with a detachable magazines or capacity of more than three rounds.

BREAKING: President Trump will support a sweeping budget and border compromise and declare a national emergency at the same time, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Thursday.
The budget compromise would prevent a government shutdown set to start at the end of Friday, but it does not contain the money Trump has demanded for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. The emergency declaration could allow Trump to procure wall funding without approval from Congress, though Democrats have promised to challenge the move.
