Discussion: McConnell Throws Cold Water On Trump's Grand O'Care Replacement Plans

There was never going to be a replacement, at least not of any substance. (The only thing that Republicans can all agree on is to allow insurance companies to sell cheap plans that don’t actually cover anything, and to sell them across state lines and thus begin the great circling of the drain in regard to coverage. Everyone can have a plan, and most plans won’t cover much of anything.)

Translation:

We haven’t a clue how the U.S. healthcare system even works, and at this point we’re too afraid to ask. We’re comfortable just leaving it the hell alone right now and changing the subject whenever asked about it.

And, like in the old days, if your job offers a decent plan, you will cling to that job because your life or the life of someone you love depends on it.

If you distance yourself from the importance of breathing you’ll find many nagging, daily concerns are diminished.

“in case Republicans win back both chambers of Congress.” AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I suspect that it will be truer to say that if your job offers a decent plan, it won’t do so for long (unless you are one of the fat cat owners).

The ONLY reason McConnell doesn’t want this brought up is because it will fail in the House.

The fact that THERE IS NO PLAN is neither here nor there. There won’t be a plan after the next election, either, even if the Republicans take back control of both houses of congress (heaven forbid). There is not now, not then, and not after the election any plan

Well, that’s weird.

I thought for sure that Trump was 100% going to follow through on this promise.

Much like an afterlife, you should always be leery of someone who says you’ll get your reward after it’s too late to change your mind.

Right after this

There is a non-zero chance the protections for pre-existing conditions will be struck down, and there won’t be a Republican plan because the only thing Republicans know how to plan in advance is tax cuts for the wealthy and deregulation that benefits the wealthy.

I’m starting to wonder if Mitch will announce his retirement in the relatively near future. I will take it as a sign that for a period of time the polls for the gop senators aren’t looking so good.

Losing the senate would be unlikely under normal circumstances given which states have senators up, and the current margin. However, with a madman driving the party bus, such that it is wildly careening all over the place with regard for public safety, these are not any where close to normal circumstances. I am pretty sure that Mitch ha no interest or ambition to be the minority leader.

In a nutshell: if/when he starts pining about going back to Kentucky … start looking for another blue wave - this one headed to the senate (and white house.)

Just as I thought. I was confused after I took a little hiatus from politics last week and came back to everybody flipping out about a coming Obamacare replacement. There’s never going to be an Obamacare replacement. Not even a renamed, revamped, repackaged one. It’s either repeal or bust. And they can’t repeal it.

As you noted, these are not normal times. And not taking the Senate is not an option. hahahaha

“We’ll be dancing… dancing in the streets…”

It’s not a give, but still I get giddy thinking about it.

But wait, wait! I thought the dotard had a plan for everyone to have better and cheaper healthcare during the campaign. Did Hillary and Obama keep that plan from being instituted while dotard had control of both houses of congress and the SCOTUS? Those evil people will stop at nothing to keep this enlightened man from having his healthcare plan released to the masses. Why don’t they just go build casinos or something.

Every time Trump says there’s a great new plan coming, I SO wish the media would pull out those campaign promises and replay them over and over and finish the playing of the clips with, “And remember, Republicans controlled both houses of Congress for 2 years after Trump’s election and there was no replacement plan brought forward. In other news…”

It’s hard to tell. Democrats keep getting all excited when they see McConnell’s polling, but it’s no worse than it was in 2014 before he went onto win reelection.

Totally agree. That’s one thing I’m absolutely sure of and I’m not sure they’d even elect him minority leader if they did lose the Senate because it would mean they lost the presidency too. I’m thinking he would catch a whole bunch of pent up, post-Trump, “why did you make us do this?” rage. The more I think on it the more I’m convinced he’d become the poster boy for sellout GOP establishment types who tried to reap the whirlwind of Trumpism, but destroyed the party instead.
