Discussion: McConnell Tells Conservatives To 'Keep The Faith' On Kavanaugh Confirmation

McConnell - "We’re gonna plow right through it and do our job.”

Worth repeating - just like they did with Merrick Garland!

I hope leading Democrats are seeing and hearing this and feeling the outrage I feel. With McConnell, it’s about the exertion of raw power and not morality, ethics, or institutional traditions.

When Democrats take the Presidency and Senate, if they don’t add a couple more SCOTUS seats with progressive minded judges, I’ll be more than a little unhappy.

Garners this response:

It’s imploding fast. Your den of DC GOP operatives are writhing around - trying to scurry into dark corners. But its not working the way that it usually does, Mitch.

Well we were warned about what the gop would do if they got in power and people either ignored it or just didn’t believe it would happen. Now those same folks are acting all outraged and shocked that the gop is doing what they were told they would do. And now those same folks are looking for someone to blame instead of looking in the mirror

Wow, he manages to say a lot of things with few words.

  1. Me blocking Merrick Garland to wait for the voters to have their say was a lie
  2. I could care less if a rapist is on the Supreme Court as long as he is a Republican rapist. Honestly he could be raping somebody right now and I could care less
  3. Women don’t matter, at all

Every time I think I’ve reached the limits of my contempt for McConnell, that I could not possibly despise him more, he manages to help me exceed them.

Mitch makes it so easy to be a Democrat.

Relatedly has anyone dug into Elaine Chao? Her bio reads like a superstar but there has to be some serious rot there for her to stay married to McConnell and cheer him on as he shits on women

It’s about the completion of the project to dismantle democracy, laid out in the Powell Memorandum back in 1971 (the most overt and shameless political conspiracy in the history of doomed democracies). When McConnell shoves through the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh, it’s the final nail in the coffin, and he gets to go into those right-wing history books as one of the Founding Fathers of the post-democratic, post-American order, the New Feudalism envisioned by the fossil fuel and banking billionaires who own the GOP.

McConnell is a genuinely evil man.

I swear the very sight of Mitch McConnell makes my skin crawl. There are evil, vile people usurping the will of the voters in this country, but none is more blatant, hypocritical, or more depraved than this walking piece of crap.

Right and 54% of the people who voted in 2016 did NOT vote for Trump.

Yertle, you’re just blowing smoke. You’re crapping your drawers right now.

McConnell also patted himself on the back for keeping Merrick Garland off of the bench, calling it one of the most important things he has done as majority leader.

The evil without.

You’ve got that right. Neither McConnell nor the rest of the party leadership care a pin about “values” and social conservatism. This is all about getting yet another tool who’ll vote to defend corporate vested interests straight down the line on the court for life.

Agreed. It is sad how much of their shared philosophy and motivation is unadulterated greed and “owning the libs.”

And yet, where are the breathless news articles and commentaries asking whether McConnell should step down from leadership? Or GOP arguing that he should step down because he triggers us so much and could motivate Democrat turnout? :man_shrugging:t5:

There are a lot of greedy women out there who don’t care about other women.
