RIP legislative fillibuster
We can be certain Collins will express her concern before bowing to McConnellâs wishes.
Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) was reportedly on the Senate floor trying to woo moderate Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) on Tuesday.
Why did the hairs on the back of my neck go up on this info? Iâm guessing nauseaâŚ
Can we please stop calling Susan Collins a moderate?
Beat me to it!
EeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwâŚ
Can we please stop calling Susan Collins a Senator? Are you listening, Maine?
Yes, sheâs a concern troll, nothing more.
Iâm not sure whether I prefer the actual filibuster or simple majority, but I know I prefer either to the fiction of âweâll pretend to honor the holy and sacred filibuster unless and until we actually need to kill it in favor of a simple majority, at which instant itâs deader than yesterdayâs moldy oatmealâ.
Son of a bitchâŚ
Sheâs moderate in the sense that sheâd support nuking Tehran, but sheâd draw the line against doing it on a Sunday.
Perhaps they should change the rules to say that only Republican members are allowed to vote.
He thinks Trump is gonna lose in 2020 and there is a rush to confirmation. He must be getting close to retiring too and this is his parting shot.
Thatâs next.
He thinks Trump is about to blow up in his face and get shit all over his shell.
Hurry, Mr. Mueller, hurry.
Being the stalwart defender of moderate Republican principles, Collins will withhold her support until McConnell promises her that she will get a vote on two Obamacare market stabilization bills by the end of the year.
This should put paid to the argument that Harry Reid was wrong to end the 60 vote cloture requirement for federal judicial appointments. If he hadnât, we would practically have no liberal majority on any court in the land.
A similar dynamic applies to the question of expanding the Supreme Court. Democrats should expand the court before Republicans do it anyway. Then pass laws making further expansion extremely difficult.
If thereâs one thing at which Sen. Bela Lugosi excels, itâs accurately predicting the outcome of votes.
We have to keep pushing the meme that no, itâs not congress thatâs corrupt, itâs republicans. Because itâs going to be intensely difficult to undo a lot of this stuff while still respecting the rule of law.
Youâre being kind.
There was a play written about 16 years ago called âBee-luther-hatchee.â The title means âthe next stop after Hell.â McConnell epitomizes the stop after Bee-luther-hatchee.
