Discussion for article #240864
The question is now whether the House will jump on board with the plan when it returns to work on Thursday, a week before the deadline for funding the government expires Sept. 30.
And the answer to that question is a resounding ânoâ. The GOP (that lovely group of Pro-birthers) is running its entire livelihood on defunding Planned Parenthood and it will have none of the idea of passing anything that doesnât accomplish that task.
If the Democrats canât make hay out of this in the Presidential election, then we have more problems than can be counted.
Yeah, right. You go, Mitch.
Itâs been demonstrated many times that voters donât give a shit about what happens unless itâs within a month of the election.
And so, the can is kicked a bit further down the road. Success! Who said the GOP canât govern?
Why is there a move to defund Planned Parenthood at all? If the evidence of criminal wrong doing exists, then let criminal cases go forward! If they did what the videosclaim, defunding would not be necessary, as the criminal charges would be fatally damaging.
In short, fighting a court battle in the legislature is wrong, in violation of the constitution, and ineffective. This is not about reason. It is about fake rage and calculated demography.
Fuck these republicans.
If I were McConnell Iâd be embarrassed by my lack of leadership but then again Republicans have so shame to begin with.
Because JESUS. And the Popeâs a liberal leftist.
If you can get your head around both statements, you might be a RedâŚerâŚRepublican.
Old Age Mutant Ninja Turtle!
I think if these fellows could go back in time to when Pres. Obama capitulated on the budget, they would gladly do so and reverse the outcome. Boehner, âIâm pretty happy. I got 90% of what I wanted.â you donât look happy.
No one has to say it; Boehner and McConnell are doing their damnedest to PROVE it.
They govern like a recovering alcoholic: one day at a time.
I think the Dems should filibuster any bill, even a continuing resolution, with the exception of a full budget that fully funds Planned Parenthood. Time to let the GOP hang itself on its own intransigence.
A bill to increase defense spending? Great! Iâm glad someone is finally looking out for the welfare of our poor, impoverished defense contractors.
Theyâll care if itâs an issue that Fox drums into their head on a daily basis until the election arrives.
Donât assuage these hardliners, primary them! They are not the majority of GOP members in Congress; presumably there are still enough traditional and common-sensical Republican voters who would vote such idiots out, if given a chance and an alternative candidate.
The âprime directiveâ of politics is compromise. If these hardline trogs canât or wonât understand that, banish them to another quadrant of the universe!
Tough to primary a reprehensible when the district is drawn to keep them in place. There has to be enough opposition to make that happen, not to mention a viable candidate and the Dems havenât been real good about either of these lately.
Now, shit like this is what pisses off voters! I think it would be good if the press expounded on what happens when there is a âgovernment shutdownâ. Voters and taxpayers need to know exactly how they are getting screwed when our government is shutdown.
Think about itâŚyouâve got to prepare to shut all systems down. That process involves personnel and the more complex the systems are the more complex they are to shutdown and to power back up. Not to mention, many of the businesses that conducts business with our federal government has a natural increase in the services they provide to offset inflation. This results in federal agencies having to limit their spending levels from the previous years, because we are paying more for needed services due to cost increases. So this continuing resolution is just a farce and all taxpayers desperately need to know that.
I surely hope that a good investigative reporter will take up this challenge to inform the public at large that these continuing resolutions are not good deals and it does our U. S. Treasury more harm than good. In fact, it increases the deficit! And that TRUTH MUST BE TOLD!
Isnât it great to see the government not run by crisis is alive and well. What a joke. Just something to look forward to with every debt limit and budget battle. If they want to have discussions on cutting spending and so on and so forth. Fine, it will still not go anywhere but at least it is budget related. This makes no sense at all.
I am sure that they would play a morality card that this is for the greater good and not the economy. Interestingly, this would be the only time they play said card. Otherwise, they will pick economics over all things.
This is the way Republicanâs governâ- 'hope their wingers go along. HaHaHa. So much for their argument next year during the general election that they effectively governed the past two years. I donât even think they can the majority of ÂŽs to agree with that notion.
Ooops, I was wrong. The GOP is now a fully âfaith-basedâ organization where facts are considered a war on religion. Gosh I keep forgetting, they think this is a TheocracyâŚmy bad.
