Discussion: McConnell On Trump: Our System Will Prevent 'Big Mistakes' (VIDEO)

Yep, that’s a great pitch.

Vote Trump: he probably won’t be able to completely destroy the country.

As miserably as you and your turds of misery have failed at your jobs in the last seven years, I wouldn’t trust you and your system with a goldfish bowl.

@docb

Well, he said ‘Big Mistakes’.

Clearly invading some random Middle Eastern country doesn’t qualify.

“But what protects us in this country against big mistakes being made is the structure, the Constitution, the institutions.”

That is why Viet Nam and Iraq never happened. Moreover, it’s why McTurtle was never elected in the first place as he drowned long ago when a hog farm’s containment pond burst and buried him.

Dear. Ms Kirkland

Your article has McConnell.endorsing Trump, but the TPM scorecard has Mitch as only supporting Trump (and again he framed that support while.clearly stating that he and Trump disagree on most of Trump’s positions).

Unless support and endorse are officially the same thing, which position should the senator be placed in?

This system of government.(and voter apathy) has given us Paul Ryan and John Boehner,

But please carry on Mitch…

I voted for Bernie, but the gig (or is that jig) is up. He’ll give a great speech at the convention and hopefully he’ll get his ass in gear and help defeat Trump. In short, Bernie will not get his way.

McTurtle: System is very successful. It’s doing a marvelous job in preventing Obama from nominating Scalia’s replacement.

Preventing Obama’s second term …not so much

Liar. It didn’t prevent you and all the other Big Mistakes® that keep getting into positions of power.

Now surely McConnell and the other GOP creeps themselves deserve some small measure of responsibility for this. Remember Joe McCarthy? They let him tell outrageous lies and ruin people’s lives for a very long time at a time when the media were much more influential than they are now. There’ve been demagogues all through history. They’re hard to fight. Honestly I think people are getting a little carried away with blaming the media when some blame should go to gutless politicians and half-wit voters. Trump built up his momentum before the media or anyone else even realized it was possible.

“So he’s a fuck-up. But he’s OUR fuck-up. You gotta vote for him. What’s the worse thing that can happen anyway?”

Let me see…Senator claims system will prevent “Big Mistakes”. Senator also says that Obama has exceeded constitutional authority…doesnt follow laws…act as a King! Tell me again how the system will control the Donald?

Sorry Mitch, but your Party enabled Bush and Cheney into to lying us into a fraudulent War. Your system did not protect us. The system also did not prevent the biggest economic crash since the great depression. You were a party to both. It’s impossible to have any confidence in your words.

That is an important point. George W. Bush was, by far, the WORST President America has ever had. Iraq. Katrina. The Big Shitpile. And then the judicial actions that stemmed from his selection, like Citizens United, and DC vs. Heller.

These things will haunt our children. The wounds will never heal, among the thousands dead of gun violence because the 2nd Amendment was redefined, or the millions who lost faith in democracy because billionaires were allowed to buy the Congress.

And now this man, who enabled all these horrors to take place, has the effrontary to claim Trump won’t be so bad because “the institutions” will keep him from doing what he wants? How did those institutions work when Bush decided to invade Iraq? How did they work when the economy collapsed, and the former head of Goldman Sachs put a gun to our head and forced us to accept a trillion dollar check to bankers who still don’t respect our system or our people.

Trump is a cancer on America, and if Hillary Clinton is the chemo Republicans have to go through to excise it, the cost is small. But it has to be heavy duty chemo to work. Their hair has to fall out. They have to lose everywhere, and I mean everywhere. People have to know what is at stake. America is at stake. America can be lost. Because of people like Mitch McConnell, and evil like Donald Trump.

Holy shitsnacks! Really? Are we really so far gone that the mere fact a Senate Majority Leader seriously offers this as a reason to vote for his party’s presidential nominee rather than vote for the eminently qualified, entirely sane opposition candidate isn’t being treated as proof of a national calamity?

Christ, third time in three days I’m having one of those moments when I’m smacking myself hard in the face screaming “WAKE UP! C’MON, DAMMIT! WAKE UP!”
