It is a trap. Once they pass it, it goes to conference with the House bill that already passed. What comes back will look a lot more like what the House passed, and then the Republicans have enough cover to say ‘bipartisanship’.
Recognize what is really going on here— this is a call to arms for conservatives everywhere that their greatest nightmare- OBAMACARE- is about to become permanent.
Right. He’s trying to terrify them into letting him have his way.
I still don’t think it will work.
That is true, but unfortunately you forgot to “yet”. goper action will continue to destabilize them until they become untenable in more and more places unless the gopers cave.
Yes. Democrats should never have allowed Obama to scuttle the “robust public option.” Russ Feingold blamed the loss of his Senate seat on the failure of the ACA to adequately address this issue. The ACA is wonderful for me as I have a pre-existing condition and could not get insurance for a couple of decades while my health deteriorated and my options for success withered.
But I do understand that costs are prohibitively high for too many who are far from being in the top 1% or 10% for that matter. Insurance companies need to be brought to heel and it wouldn’t hurt this country to curb the excessive fees and costs of pharmaceuticals and doctors, too. JMHO
Why not just pass a bill renaming the ACA, REAGANCare. The republicans could claim victory and we could all get on with our healthy lives.
In Kentucky, every turtle (including McConnell) will become a “post turtle”
"Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said the bill’s prospects were ‘precarious.’”
Uh-huh.
And President Lincoln’s health is also “precarious.”
