GOP has great confidence in the GOP.
It is all settled then folks.
Which means exactly what, asshole? When you say “by the book,” all you really mean is “my way.” Will these interviews be conducted in private or publicly?
I would hope that Ms. Ford and her lawyer insist on a public hearing.
Uh, this isn’t really “sexual harassment”. It’s sexual assault.
And, of course, no, the republican chair of the committee cannot conduct bipartisan interviews by himself. Eff off, Mitch.
It really is an amazing sign of how thoroughly be media is wired for republicans that everyone seems to be buying the whole “last-minute” narrative when the republicans set a schedule so rushed that we haven’t even had time to vet and release all of Kavanaugh’s work documentation.
Poor scheduling on their part doesn’t make for culpable lateness on the democrats part.
Ford will be subjected to an interrogation.
The Unregistered Sex Offender will be “invited to have a conversation.”
I guess it depends on which book. By Malignant Mitch’s book, the lickspittle Kavanaugh shouldn’t even get a hearing until after the people have spoken. Too bad he’s changed the rules again and now another Supreme is a Get Out of Jail card for 45. It’s a bridge too far.
McConnell complained about the eleventh hour nature of the report. Given the GOP’s rush to confirm Kavanaugh, it’s more like the eleventh minute. Can we see the other documents that have thus far been withheld now too?
So, Mitch and Grassley want to do this behind closed doors. Even a transcript, if released (which is not a certainty?) would not give as complete an indication as to demeanor and credibility of the two or more witnesses. So, the Republicans will trot out and sing in unison how absolutely credible and believable the serial liar Kavanaugh is, and how utterly dis-believable Dr. Ford is, who by the way waited 30+ years to come forward with this for the sole reason that she was waiting to get Kavanaugh at the 11th hour of a Supreme Court confirmation process … which, of course, she knew all that time would happen.
Demand a public hearing, Dr. Ford - and all you Democrats.
And I don’t trust either one of you - not at all for one fucking second.
My bet is that these will be non-public and Grassley will decide which questions are allowed or not allowed.
Anything other than name, rank and serial number is off-limits.
Not “interviews.” Testimony. Public testimony. Under oath.
I fucking despise John Cornyn. Stupid is one thing. Arrogant is another. But this facking asshole combines both of these and whips them up together into a fine, light froth which suppurates from every pore in his body.
“I’m glad that Chairman Grassley is following standard practice and regular order, …
So Grassely won’t be following practice and regular order then. Got it.
“I’m glad that Chairman Grassley is following standard practice and regular order, and he’s stated he plans to pursue this matter by the book, with bipartisan interviews of both Judge Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford,” McConnell said from the Senate floor.
Because allegations of sexual assault are serious partisan concerns.

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn throws cold water on a public hearing for Brett Kavanaugh. What Senate Democrats want to do is “create a show trial, and I think it would be a mistake to reward bad behavior, he told us”
[/quote]Like, by giving a man who assaulted someone and attempted to rape her (at least one credible person we know of), and who is a serial liar and partisan hack, a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.
And that Kamala Harris, Mazie Hirono, and Angus King be conferenced on the call.
