a wealthy, dying man is wheeled into his workplace and wants to make sure his last acts on this earth will damage the country he purportedly loves

Maybe he can’t pass up those estate tax benefits that will come to his family? - the SOB

Seems pretty clear this thing is going to pass, with or without Collins.

McCain, staring death in the face, is only concerned now about the elimination of the inheritance tax.

That, coupled with the other changes will make him (and especially his kids) a SHIT-LOAD of money right now, and after he croaks will be worth $$$Millions to his kids.

I guess McCain got a better offer than the bargain he was trying to make with eternity.

This bill will "help Americans keep more of their hard-earned money” while forcing them to pay for things they used to get from the government thus guaranteeing that most of them will wind up being net losers. Especially after those middle class tax cuts expire. But none of this will be apparent to the low information voter until after the 2018 mid-terms.

This analysis of the bill in the NYT is pretty stunning. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/29/business/republican-tax-cut.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news

This is really, really bad.

81 years old and dying, and he rather fuck over the American people than spend the short time he has left with his family? Because for our members of Congress, representing their corporate sponsors and lining their own pockets is the most important thing in their lives.

I guess McCain stopped trying to get into heaven after all.

This current bill is twice as odious as the one McCain voted against in 2001:

“I cannot in good conscience support a tax cut in which so many of the benefits go to the most fortunate among us, at the expense of middle-class Americans who most need tax relief,” he said on the Senate floor in 2001, when the first Bush tax cuts were up for consideration.

I’d like to know what medications McCain takes at this point.

“It’s clear this bill’s net effect on our economy would be positive.”

Nothing maverick-y or rogue about that. This will be his legacy.

I would like to know when will this benefit occur, before or after people no longer have healthcare? I guess it is ok for you John since you got yours.
