There’s nothing in the cosmos that the Senate takes more seriously than the self-perceived dignity of the Senate.

Well what do you know the coward has finally decided to step up to the plate and do something worthwhile to show his disapproval of the White House. Now if only he could find some and enforce article 25 because the wacko in the White House is crazy and is unfit to be the president of the United States. The comment wasn’t a “joke”. It was a cruel, heartless statement of fact about a man dying of brain cancer. Totally in line with the hatefulness of her boss, who no doubt loved an attack on a perceived enemy.

What is so pathetically puzzling about this episode is certainly everyone in the WH but Trump realizes A)-this isn’t going way sans public apology and B)- it’s a huge, unnecessary distraction from more important initiatives.
The clusterfuck that is the Trump White House is perfectly embodied by this event.

Make some mealy-mouthed bullshit statement like “So and so regrets her intemperate language and wishes Senator McCain the best, and further personnel matters are being handled internally”. This would be fine; this is how it works. Everybody would grumble and mumble and it would fall away with the next news cycle. But no, you have to double down, proudly planting a flagpole on the summit of shame… through your own instep.
