Discussion: McConnell: Bill Blocking Trump From Easing Russia Sanctions Not 'Necessary'

GOP and McConnell reverting to stereotype and doing what they do best: obstruction, red herring casting, and waggon circling. Yertle at the center, withdrawing his head into his shell. Chaffetz wanting to investigate lewks instead of Flynn-Russia connection

In a sense, Trump is right: The real story is not Flynn. But it isnā€™t government leaks, either. No, the ā€œreal story hereā€ is Trump himselfā€”and the continuing mystery of his ties to Russia.

As official Washington and the press home in on the permanent disarray in the White House, whether the disgraced Flynn broke the law and who will succeed him after his three-week tenure, the key question is getting lost in the shuffle: Who told Flynn to call Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador to the United States? Because Iā€™m convinced Flynn didnā€™t do it of his own accord. Flynn is a bit player in a much larger story regarding the presidentā€™s relationship with the Kremlin, and itā€™s this story the press needs to focus on.

ā€œā€˜I donā€™t think thatā€™s necessary at this point,ā€™ McConnell told the Wall Street Journal in an interview published Wednesday evening. He did add that he would ā€˜certainly encourageā€™ Trump to leave sanctions in place.ā€

History will not be kind to the Turtle. It wasnā€™t going to be anyway, but now it will be downright evil.

Proof positive it is needed.

ā€œYou have a select committee when you think you canā€™t handle it with the existing structure,ā€ he told the Wall Street Journal.

At this time I'm unsure the Republicans in the Senate could manage making popcorn in a microwave oven.

Little Miss McConnell better get some religion fast.

Russia Dismisses Reports That Trump Aides Had Contact With Intelligence Agents

ā€¦ Vladimir M. Dzhabarov, first deputy chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the upper house of Parliament ā€¦ ā€œTrump should realize that the target of these false stories is he, himself. If the American president will not stop this bacchanalia and will continue to surrender his people, this will end very badly ā€” because the overall aim of his enemies is the U.S. presidentā€™s impeachment.ā€

Canā€™t stop the orgy once it starts, Mitch, and how does he accept the open threats from Russian officials in the press? Russians Lament anti-Trump Purge

Iā€™m not an attorney, but isnā€™t there a point where all of this GOP cover-up becomes ā€œaiding and abettingā€, or in the not-too-distant future, ā€œharboring a fugitiveā€?

Only if collusion can be proved.

[/quote]We passed the Rubicon on Jan 20th. They all knew then, but they cynically attempted to put him in charge to get their precious tax cuts and deregs.

Weā€™re living through, hopefully, some serious shit up in here.

I guess the question now is will the free Rosneft stock bear the name of McConnell or Chao?

@circusmax That wasnā€™t the Rubicon, my friend. That was the River Styx.

Fun Bonus Fact: Comrade Coir Coif wants to do a complete overhaul of the intelligence services, led by a guy whose company is called Cerberus Capital Management.

More proof: You canā€™t make this shit up!

Probably in the name of ā€œYertle Trust #4529ā€, registered in the Caymans.

Iā€™m not quite understanding his logic. Passing such a bill would at least potentially protect PP from himself. It would, in some ways, tie his hands behind his back and thus shield him (for the time being) from whatever blackmail Putin has hanging over him. At this point and for the foreseeable future, if PP lifts sanctions itā€™ll do little more than feed the impression (truth) that heā€™s an agent of Putin. Maybe Iā€™m looking at it all wrong, but the way I see it PP now has little excuse for being unable to deliver on his promises to Putin. How does that help PP or the GOP?

Everyone on the planet with an anti-progressive agenda wanted Trump in office to serve as their useful idiot. Russians, Republicans, business, Christian zealots, Islamophobes, homophobes, the carbon based energy sector, etc. Now theyā€™re all discovering they got the idiot part in spades, the useful not so much.
