Discussion: McConnell Believes He Has The Votes To Confirm Kavanaugh

“I believe he’ll be confirmed, yes,” McConnell said when asked if he had the votes.

Not really the question that was asked.

Well, he’s certainly not going to say that he doesn’t have the votes to confirm.
Once we see how Ford’s testimony plays out, we’ll have some independent idea of how the votes stand.

But in any case, confirming Kavanaugh is likely to do real damage to the GOP’s hopes in coming elections.

Time will tell.

Good point. That headline is misleading.

Earlier in the press availability, McConnell said he was “confident we’re going to win.”

So. Much. Winning.

No, he doesn’t believe it at all because he knows he does not.

But keep up the circling turkey dance, scumbag. We all know you gotta pretend.

McConnell noted that few people were willing allowed to testify under oath about the matter.

Freaking Mitch.

I sure hope he doesn’t get a single Dem vote. Tie this bastard around their necks like an anchor.

Everything’s the opposite, right McTurtle?

Yeah, that comment struck me as rather… misinformed.

“Few people are willing to testify under oath.”

And what does that tell you? Maybe that people who are unwilling to testify under oath - Mark Judge and other Kavanaugh apologists - should probably be assumed to be liars.

Also that identified witnesses - Mark Judge - should be charged with contempt of Congress, arrested and thrown in jail to cool their heels until they agree to testify.

Enough with this IOKIYAR bullshit.

Yeah, he’s made that mistake in the past, as I recall.

Ask Jeremy Pruitt if Tennessee is going to beat Alabama this year. I doubt he will flat out say “no.”

I really hate it when majority leader scrums get taken more seriously than football coach pressers. Because that is basically all they are.

You’re most likely right. But a mid-term election for a lifetime Supreme Court appointment is hardly a fair trade-off.

It’s ok, they’ve hired a russian lawyer to count the votes.

Today: “We believe we have the votes to confirm.”

After Thursday: “Some members are having second thoughts after hearing Dr. Ford.”

“Which is why I’m being such a crybaby and hoping I can get everyone in line.” What a weak leader

Seems fair to ask whether it’s safe for the girl in the snowmobile parts department to bend over in front of the assistant sales manager yet. Somehow, I don’t think the old creeper has anything to worry about yet. This palace intrigue is for naught until women start getting treated better everywhere.

But is is more than we had just a few weeks ago. A severely tainted SC Justice will not be to their benefit in the coming years. Democrats can move to make Kavanaugh’s criminal behavior a legal problem, or an otherwise permanent mark which can taint the decisions he makes and help rid the Senate of more Republics in future election years and make a move to add 2 more Justices a viable playing card.
