Discussion: McCaskill To Vote 'No' On Gorsuch, Citing His 'Lack Of Humanity'

McCaskill mostly drives me nuts, but she can count votes. I suspect Manchin and Heitkamp are realllly regretting their “yes” announcements.

“stunning lack of humanity.”

According to the GOP: Special Victims Unit that’s considered a feature, not a bug.

But will she also vote no on the cloture vote?

Yes, this is good. I get that she’s in a red state, but you gotta fight, you gotta act on your convictions, and you gotta show the people of your state that you stand for something. This does that.

Holy Shit, Claire. You just laid down the new slogan for the Trump Administration:
“A lack of humanity.”

The democrats can use that phrase even if the real reason for voting ‘no’ is ‘payback.’

Now we will see if we officially get the McConnell Rule: a President must hold a majority in the Senate to get a Supreme Court appointment; an entirely extra-Constitutional rule invented by power-hungry dweeb.

The only other possible outcome would be for the Democrats to give in, but maybe they have finally grown a spine. So it will be tit-for-tat until the end of the republic; or if we’re lucky, the Republican party.

Since Trump will not take the only route to save the other two branches of government that aren’t him – nominating Garland – it is entirely up to the name-sake shit-stain to decide whether to finally go all the way and destroy them himself.

I’m waiting for one dem----ONE DEM—to say: “After Garland, I wouldn’t piss on anybody on Trump’s little list even if his heart was on fire.”

Thank you Sen., McCaskill for giving voice to the most troubling characteristic of this nominee. And on the issue of humanity, he seems even worse that Scalia, if that is possible. Neil Gorsuch’s consideration of the common man seems worthy of Charles Dickens’ vilest characters. “Let the truck driver freeze and reduce the excess population.” (with apologies to Dickens) He is completely undeserving of a seat on our highest court, and should actually be removed from the Tenth Circuit.

Good for you, Claire.

I would, however, like to see more Democrats citing Trump’s ties to Putin, Russia, the Mob, and the Russian Mob, as a reason to oppose his nominees. Absolutely none of Trump’s nominees should be allowed to serve in the government until it is shown that they - and the man appointing them - are not agents of a hostile foreign government, or likely to be indicted as criminal associates under a RICO charge.

I sure wish someone in the DNC would realize that at the minimum, Howard Dean should be the TV spokesman for the Democrats. I liked what he said on air yesterday regarding Democrats voting for Gorsuch:

He’s articulate, smart and does a good job in front of the camera. At least he can improvise and change directions instead of seeming defensive and spitting out talking points like someone else I won’t mention.

Good for McCaskill … if voting for Gorsuch would actually help Manchin and Heitkamp survive in their very conservative states, I would give them a pass, but it won’t - their only hope is a national Democratic “wave” election in 2018

Claire, you just got my contribution to your reelection campaign…

Agreed - too bad Obama fired him as head of the DNC. Dean “gets it.” (Too bad he did not when the Democratic Nomination, too!)

It won’t be of active help…I think it just won’t hurt them. While that’s not unimportant in uphill battles like theirs, I strongly doubt it would be enough. Having said that, I understand WV and ND are not NYs and they are struggling to find the best route for survival.

I want McCaskill to win, even more so after her No vote. That may tell an important lesson to future Democratic candidates from red states.

Pointing out his lack of humanity from his own body of work helps.

Yay! Thanks, McCaskill! I understood what you were saying about voting yes, but I’m sure glad you changed your mind because I thought it was a mistake.

So so happy about this.
