Discussion for article #226405
Yes. More of this please.
Claire McCaskill is a Democrat.
Weak sauce. Beaten to the punch by Rand Paul, and not strong enough. Paul went furtherâŚMs McCaskill itâs more than this specific situation weâre talking about, we need to de-militarized ALL police departments and stop the Pentagon from arming them. Have the courage to say it so I donât have to defend a shitbag like Rand Paul.
Baby in Coma After Police âGrenadeâ Dropped in Crib During Drug Raid
Oh, FFS. McCaskill is responding to a specific situation involving her own constituents. Rand Paul wrote an editorial that took a big picture approach to the same situation and funneled it through an anti âbig governmentâ lens promoting his broader ideology.
Do you get the distinction?
Remember what the militarized Oakland Police did during the Occupy Wallstreet protests several years ago?
The individual Mayors and city councils need to de-militarize their police departments.
Meanwhile, the people abused by these militarized cops just need to sue the city in Ferguson, just like the Occupy Protestors did with Oakland: it cost Oakland big bucks. Just takes time for the cases to get through the Justice systemâŚ
Hit 'em where it hurts: in the pocketbook!
PsstâŚwhen you sue your own city governmentâŚits coming out of your pocketbook.
I donât disagree with your suggestion, just pointing out that that particular motivation doesnât really play when we are discussing suing the government.
Sheâs a national politician, this is a national problem. What part of that donât you get Opie.
âŚbuh buh buh.
Whatâs the Pentagon gonna do with their surplus M-RAPs , weaponry, and helicopters, Ms Claire?
Guess what Maxie
Claire McCaskill is not the only national politician.
What part of THAT do you not understand?
No but sheâs the one up for discussion Einstein.
oooooooooo
Snappy comeback.
Just another dumb white man in America huh?
Good you realize your problemâŚ
Ok, have a nice day Opie.
Name calling reduces the legitimacy of your opinion to nearly zero, in my book. It also makes me think youâre not a nice person.
Opie? What does that even mean? Anyway, back to the actual issue at handâŚ
Claire McCaskill is currently meeting with protesters on the ground in Ferguson. Doesnât she realize that this is a national problem and that the only appropriate response is to have a staff member ghostwrite a column for her to publish in Time Magazine? Or better yet, since this is a national problem, McCaskill shouldnât focus on her constituents or Ferguson at all! A senator focusing on an ongoing crisis in her state as it is unfolding is the very height of hypocrisy. Only a total âOpieâ would think otherwise.
But seriously, McCaskillâs focus on the militarization of police within Ferguson does not preclude her from being concerned about the broader national issue of militarization. I donât understand your knee-jerk McCaskill bashing, especially as she is actually on the scene in Ferguson personally assisting her constituents.
