Discussion: McCarthy Says Amash 'Never Supported The President,' 'Just Looking For Attention'

Just to note, Amash has a 68 percent conservative rating, according to the Almanac of American Politics, and voted with Trump positions 62 percent of the time.

But unless you’re a groveling, toadying, spineless worm like McCarthy and the rest of the GOP caucus, you’re apparently not a real Republican.

“He never supported the President

There’s a lot of space between supporting the President [sic] and supporting a grifting criminal.

There doesn’t appear to be any space in today’s Democratic Party for someone whose faith principles lead him to oppose abortion, either.

Yeah. Republicans under Trump still love Ronald Reagan and the Eleventh Commandment.

Just not when it comes to other Republicans.

Well McCarthy is stupid so it’s par for the course. Furthermore, it’s a slight crack in the armor so he can’t stand that. He was already walking into the new session of Congress with a weak hand so a member already flipping makes McCarthy look like a weak leader (and he is)

2 questions about Amash–

  1. has he announced future plans? Most of the Rs who offered even the mildest critiques of Trump were already leaving.
  2. how resilient is he? to intimidate others from following his example, R leadership has clearly decided Amash must be annihailated. Can he stand up to the onslaught?

Shorter McCarthy: “I haven’t read it.”

OT but WTF McCarthy? House is not in session, so where the hell are you? You and I both know there is not a single, solitary sailboat marina anywhere in your district. Go home and on the way you can read the Mueller Report.

Anyone is free to exercise their own belief about abortion on their own body.

So the correct answer for any Democrat who doesn’t believe that abortion is moral is the Biden answer: I am personally opposed to it but would never seek to impose my own belief on anyone else. Every woman is free to make her own choice.

I do not want to hear any less than that from any fucking Democrat - especially not while the GOP is waging war on women.

Kevin McCarthy is the dimmest of dim bulbs. And, who the f_ck seeks constant attention? Hint: Has orange hair, acts like a petulant child, and lives on Pennsylvania Ave.

He has pretty much been his own man, so to speak. He is well liked here in his district pretty much in line with this heavily R side of the state. He does have a strong independent streak and is not afraid to speak truth (or his perception of truth) to power. This might narrow his chances in the next cycle, but I doubt it. Should the investigations lead to Two Scoops going out, he would be on the “right” side and do even better. He won’t buck the system to just buck it. He is extremely principled so I don’t think peer pressure is going to do much. He’s already on the periphery being aligned with the Freedom Caucus.

OK, thanks.

Trump called Amash a “total lightweight” and a “loser,”…

Chiselin’ Trump, on the other hand is a “total heavywieght” and a “gainer.”

The nice thing is that discriminated Cherokees will support any white brother-in-law who directs no-bid government contracts to them. They don’t seek attention, just a few million cash money.

The next question.

All very true, but I think launching into personal attacks against his own caucus member makes him look even weaker.

McCarthy is the Matt Gaetz of Michael Cohens.

(Sorry for any disturbing images which that might conjure up.)

My personal selection of the line all Democrats should use concerning the subject of abortion:

“If you don’t believe in abortion, then don’t have one.”
