Discussion for article #241569
“I don’t know. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom,” McCarthy responded.
There he goes being honest again.
I can see the headlines: Nation Unsurprised as GOP Leader Compares Party to Pathetic Helpless Drunk
He’s in for a long wait then. If there’s one thing the GOP has been Pro at lately, it’s digging themselves into deep, deep holes.
A small group of crazy people have one of the 2nd Amendment guns pointed at our collective heads. Since there is nothing they value, they are completely willing to blow our heads off to try to get what they want, even if none of the rest of us want to go along with them.
I don’t mind them hitting rock bottom, although thus far they’ve always managed to continue digging thereafter. What I object to is that they are taking all of us down with them. If you want to go…go! Just don’t destroy life for the rest of us on your way down!
While they´re in rehab, Congress could get something done.
Rock bottom will never come as long as they have such a strong gerrymandered House. They’ll always be able to scare the rubes into supporting them.
That implies that the pit has a bottom. I’m unconvinced.
Interesting use of AA terminology.
When the bar is already set in the asthenosphere …
You know, a few days ago I was thinking, McC really doesn’t seem to have much in the way of guile. He says whatever is obviously apparent without any sense of how it translates on a political level.
Just wth is “rock bottom” for the House GOP, aren’t they there already?
Kev, you guys did that about five years ago…now you’re working on a whole new BASEMENT.
they are just reporting on msnbc that boehner has been on the phone all day begging paul ryan to take the job…
how many fifths do you think boehner has downed already today?
By “Rock Bottom” he means having a raging asshole/moron like Trey Gowdy as Speaker of the House.
In a Bizzaro-World twist, to be Speaker of the House you DO NOT have to be a member of the House!
It is actually possible that they could nominate and ELECT someone like, say DICK CHENEY or MITT ROMNEY as Speaker! (the second in line of succession to the Presidency.)
Oh. Your. God.
This may be fun to watch (in a slow train-wreck sort of way) but real people will get real hurt by this insanity.
The rest of the world looks on and just slowly shake their heads in disbelief.
This reminds me SO MUCH of the fight among all the zealot factions in Monty Python’s “The Life of Brian” as they ALL try to kidnap the Governor’s Wife at the same time, and end up fighting among themselves as the Roman Guards look on in disgust and just shake their heads at their stupidity.
Reminds me of an Elaine Benes Seinfeld line: “Just when I think you’re the shallowest man I ever met, you manage to drain a little more from the pool.”
The mad trotskyite in me eggs them on.
Think of the chaos of a U.S. debt default. Bwahaha, the pillars of capitalism tremble as the sands of the short-term repo markets slide away.
The practical Keynesian economist whacks the wild-haired one, and reminds of the real and fast pain, particularly for working people, associated with financial crisis and a second dip into deep recession.
Whelp. Any ideas how to get these people into rehab?
