Discussion: McCain Takes Apparent Dig At Trump For Dodging Vietnam War Draft (VIDEO)

Senator McCain’s point is well taken. But would anyone really want Donald Trump to serve in our Armed Forces? The guy is a walking disaster.

True Senator but that knife needed to be inserted 2 years ago and twisted.

It’s about flippin’ time that someone on the GOPer side said that and, say what you will about McCain, he is the best person to have made this point about Draft Dodgin’ Donnie.

He would have gotten the Neidermeyer treatment.

Call me when he apologizes for Sarah Palin.

He might have gotten his moronic self killed. But some other demon would have popped up to take his niche.

“I had a doctor that gave me a letter — a very strong letter on the heels,” Trump told the Times.

A very strong letter. In 63 years, I don’t think I’ve ever heard a letter - any kind of letter - referred to as “strong,” let alone “very strong.” Letters may be detailed, informative, persuasive, consoling, joyful-event-sharing, critical, demanding…many things. But “very strong”? Fucking draft-dodging moron.

Maybe McCain has finally gotten a clue. Maybe not.

He makes soothing noises from time to time, but the proof will be in how he votes.

I will never understand how veterans can ever vote Republican. They are always used as props and then promptly shit on, year after year.

Can’t wait to see if “Bone Spur Donnie” takes the bait. (Would be fun to have Wilson add a little commentary about the precious and tender nature of Trump’s feet.)

We might also want to consider how much socio-economic class plays a role in recruitment today.

What happens to a draft deferred? Does it dry up, like an orange in the sun? Or fester like bone spur, and then run? h/t Langston Hughes.

Like we’d even care if he still had crappy foot bones. FDR basically couldn’t walk in secret, and by 2014 no less an rrr grrr tuff state than Texas elected a governor who’s a paraplegic.

Trump’s need for strength and acceptance and biglyness is pathological. In every possible way talking about his Vietnam “service” is dumb. No man or woman from any walk of life would take Trump’s story over McCain’s. But he literally cannot help himself.

It’s the draft dodger war monger that bothers me.
Cheney,Bush,Gingrich,Limdick,O’Reilly and all the other Vietnam era repulsives who seem to glorify war but were to fucking yellow to go.

Donnie doesn’t have a bone spur on his heel, he has one on his brain.

I think a better person would be a Republican member of congress up for re-election who is not dying of brain cancer.

He’s a bone spur head?

As if that’s gonna happen.

I hope the Senator’s remarks are enough to draw enemy fire away from Mrs. Johnson. I hope it distracts Rump from publicly trashing the Gold Star widow, giving her a chance to grieve in peace. The first week of that particular shit show was seven days too many.

Agree, but I’ll take any help from the R’s at this point: Corker, Graham, McCain, GW Bush. I’d rather they come in too late than not at all.

I watched the clip - McCain had the most amazing poker face as he said bone spurs. If Donnie watches it, rather than reads or gets told the comment, he wouldn’t realize it was about him.
