ââŚbut no matter how crappy it is, I will definitely vote for itâŚâ
ââŚthe same way Obamacare did when they rammed it through with 60 votesâ.
Thatâs right, folks. They RAMMED IT THROUGH with ONLY 60 votes out of 100! Everyone knows that for a bill to not be considered RAMMED THROUGH it needs to have far more than that!! Unless itâs a GOP bill, that isâŚ
Note that the Maveric isnât taking fro granted that the new one will meet Reconnciliation. This is such a Rube Goldberg process that Joshâs near-forgotten observation that Senators are very reluctant to go out on limbs means that âtoughâ(in political parlance)Yes votesânot No votesâwill be hard to come by.
They likely wonât even bring it up.
Letâs hope the Bill really is the victim of a Death Panel.
âAnd even when they lose, then theyâre part of the process. Thatâs what democracy is supposed to be all about.â
Correct. From McCainâs perspective, democracy is all about Dems losing. Hence this repeal bill.
The Weathervane Maverick speaketh!!!
Thatâs what democracy is supposed to be all about!!! Except when I participated in the stealing of Merrick Garlandâs Supreme Court seatâŚand when I signed the letter drafted by Bill Kristol for Tom Cotton to send to the Ayatollahs!!! Democracy is supposed to include the oppposing party!!! Sometimes, anyway!!!
The âhealth careâ bill is like a serial killer in a movie - not dead until itâs been run over by a fleet of eighteen-wheelers and hurled into a smelting pool. No celebrating until then.
Of course the same could be said of Ryanâs border-adjustment tax, but thatâs the Waltonsâ problem.
âThe repeal bill is probably DOA so weâll have to find other ways to fuck up Obamacare, give the rich a tax cut, and blame the Democrats.â
not dead even thenâŚlook at how the GOP is rolling back voting rights long after theyâd been âwon.â
âIf you shut out the adversary or the opposite party, youâre going to end up the same way Obamacare did when they rammed it through with 60 votes."
Rammed it through - with a year and a half of 60 hearings, 100 adopted Republican amendments, considerable debate - yeah, just like that. Iâm really getting tired of the media letting lies like this go without challenge and push-back.
Heâs going to get all mavericky on us and blame the whole thing onâŚHillary Clinton.
âI fear that itâs going to fail.â
Once again, the self-anointed patriot chooses party over country.
Fuck You, Sid McCrashcup!
I agree with you, but McCain is simply repeating one of the most enduring myths in American politics. Proof of the power of fake news. The media hasnât pushed back on that charge since the ACA was signed.
Pretty fucking sad and maddening that Rs canât admit that Obamacare is actually a decent program, just needs tweaks and the only thing better would be single player. And McCain knows heâs just lying through his teeth trying to sound like itâs just a matter of including Ds instead of admitting the R plan sucks and is just so they can cut rich folks taxes, health insurance be damned.
Hey, McPain, you fear it will fail; about 25 million Americans fear it will pass.
âIf you shut out the adversary or the opposite party, youâre going to end up the same way Obamacare did when they rammed it through with 60 votes.
Hmm, Sen. McCain, I know youâre making a point, but the Dems didnât have a 60-vote majority. Some Republicans DID vote for that bill. And if you can get 60 senators to vote for anything that isnât a post office naming, thatâs pretty impressive. Too bad you donât have Obama on your side⌠or Harry Reid.
âIt doesnât mean they â that they control it. It means they can have amendments considered. And even when they lose, then theyâre part of the process. Thatâs what democracy is supposed to be all about,â the senator said.
YeahâŚthatâs the real way democracy works. We get four GOP senators to write a bill in such secrecy the vast majority of its own members donât even know what it contains. We hold no hearings, we consult no individuals or interest groups, we limit the time for debate.
And now, to make it âdemocraticâ we deign to allow the pissant Democrats to offer a few amendments, shoot them down, pass it and voilaâŚbipartisanship is restored.
Give me a fâŚking break John. You and Lindsay Graham. Go back to your offices and be concerned and be shutting up now.
With THEM it is 60 votes required. When we are in power, itâs 50. How the hell canât you get 50 John?..you control both houses and the White House and you stole a Supreme Court seat.
I can only wonder what kind of rabbit Mitch McConnell will pull out of his ass hat. At this point, Iâm beginning to believe this thing really will die; or so I hope.
