“Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Sunday said he can’t guess why some fellow Republicans deny that climate change exists…”

Baffling.

“Oil & gas industry contributions to GOP candidates in 2016 topped $55 million.”

Like the Voynich Manuscript…or the Wow Signal…or Jimmy Hoffa…

I guess we’ll just never know.

Oil and gas.

And the lack of character in being able to admit they’re wrong. Because the average right wing troll isn’t getting paid by Big Oil. He’s just parroting the company line.

I don’t usually quote Donald Trump but we do seriously have “stupid people” running our government now. Venal and stupid.

Genesis:

26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

And God said, “If they don’t like it, fuck 'em.”

I loathe him as much as anyone, but I’m pretty sure McCain actually knows why people deny climate change. He just doesn’t want to say “because they’re greedy monsters willing to turn the only planet their own children and grandchildren have to live on into a hellscape of famine, disease, catastrophic weather, massive refugee movements, and war.” It’s more tactful, shall we say, to profess yourself to be baffled. He does have to see these people at the country club, after all.

If we’re made in God’s image, God is totally crazy and stupid. Yikes.

I think this is the main reason : if they accept it, then that means that Al Gore and the liberals are right, and we can’t have that.

Divination is the province of the Evangelical wing of his party. He should ask them.

I found this today by James Fallows. The Rs will regret their attempt to roll back DACA.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Sunday said he can’t guess why some fellow
Republicans deny the scientific consensus that climate change exists and
is affected by human activity.
…
It’s really pretty easy John… it’s called

willful stupidity
Just like a reporter/weatherperson standing out in the middle of a goddamned hurricane.

And not only that, many don’t care about the survival of the planet because they are delusional. They see everything – all the climate calamity, religious wars, and dear leader trump as divine signs of the end times. True believers don’t need earth when destined for eternal life.
