By tomorrow the Republican’ts will all fall back into line. Party Uber Alles…
Good for you Senator. ‘Maybe’ this will be the beginning of a ‘have you no shame’ movement in your party.
What Flake did preserves his own reputation, but it’s not clear to me that Trump is hurt AT ALL.
Flake is refusing to support Trump, but he’s also refusing to oppose him.
What he should do is declare that an Independent, or at least just announce that he will no longer caucus with the Republicans.
It’s almost certain that he will continue to be a 90% pro-Trump vote.
So, congratulations on a baby step. I’ve seen better.
Just like Corker did the day after he said he wasn’t running again?
So do you believe that Corker won’t vote for tax giveaways for millionaires, billionaires and transnational, tax-avoiding corporations? Or the repeal of Obamacare? Or building a border wall? Talk is cheap. Watch what they do…
Okay John, c’mon now. From a senator who had had other priorities or bone spurs, and who never received his party’s nomination for the presidency, serving with Flake might make your “greatest honors of my life” list, but, really now. Even given political license to engage in hyperbole, this is a bit much.
Should have just stuck with “its been an honor.”
Since picking fights with Gold Star families of color seems to endear the Occupant with its base, another Rethug bowing out will no doubt be icing on the cake in crazy town tonight.
From my examination of Flake’s record, the only decent things he’s done are expressing concern for lead levels in drinking water and admitting his party elected an active psychopath as president. No doubt the citizens of Arizona will find a suitable replacement, maybe even a dragon.
Yes, I believe that Corker will not vote for any bill that passes the Senate and does any of those three things.
Holy cow are you folks over-correcting.
Corker has already announced his opposition to the tax cuts.
He’d vote for repeal of the ACA, but not the way it’s being pushed now.
He is actually quoted as saying: “. . . one of the great honors of my life.”
Not really the same thing you’ve posted to bemoan.
Here’s a crazy theory. Flake doesn’t run again, McCain is forced to resign due to ill health, anti-Trump R governor of Arizona appoints Flake to replace McCain.
Just a thought.
If ever there was a time for the neo-Whigs to split from the Know-Nothing Party, it is now.
I think maybe you didn’t read what I wrote very closely.
Yeah, serving with Flake made his “greatest honors” list but, seriously, everything on that list pales in comparison to naming Sarah Palin as his running mate.
Talk is cheap. Watch what they do.
That has fuck-all to do with what I posted about Corker.
He and Flake are died-in-the-wool conservatives.
That they understand the danger Trump represents changes none of their beliefs.
That being said, I am glad they have finally spoken the truth about Trump—which has no real bearing on their particular brand of conservatism except for the credibility it lends their statements.
