Hey John McCain: FUCK YOU
Co-sign.
Just die already!
“This process is really fucked up, so I voted to prolong it. But now I’m making a speech criticizing what I just endorsed, so the media will start fluffing me again as a “lion.” Which Robert Costa just did. Thanks Bob, but don’t forget the balls next time, OK?”
Yea, McCain, blah, blah, nice, sad…But…Then, Trump the Insult President poops on it.
Tired of the media missing the story for the trees but I’m drawn to Trump’s increasingly farfetched ‘in a few days (weeks, hours)’ stall after any question requiring more knowledge than the few sentences blurted into his ear before a public event.
Fuck yourself. Make your words and your actions consistent and then start lecturing people on how they ought to act, you gutless hypocrite. And yet I have to say, acknowledging our common humanity in your hour of serious illness, fuck yourself.
Mitch McConnell’s senate has no rules, no order, no class. Cheating has become the GOP hallmark. They are proud of it the way the SEC and the Patriots are in football. It’s become a sign of toughness and dedication to winning. It’s hard to see how you beat a team that glorifies flouting the rules, and pays no political price for that.
I said something really messed up about McCain and his cancer on another board yesterday when I found out he was coming back for this vote. I figured I’d feel bad about it today. Not so much.
Well, he won’t be around to suffer the consequences of his vote. There are at least a couple of circles of Hell that he will qualify for, thanks to this vote and also for giving the world Sarah Palin.
There is no level of contempt beyond what he deserves. That was always true. But it’s especially true today.
Yeah, sending tens of thousands of Americans to their early graves is not enough for the vampires of the GOP.
When my dad had the first round of surgery for this same cancer (they take out chunks of your brain as it progresses), his mood was the best ever.
My brother said “Dad got a grump-ectomy!” Hope it happens for McCain too. Maybe he’ll switch parties.
Maybe McCain saved the day for DonTCare by getting off his death bed, but he certainly damned his soul along with 20 to 35 million damned to death.
Senator Mitch McConnell (R - KY) felt compelled to clarify Senator McCain’s remarks by adding, “It is painfully obvious that John’s brain tumor is affecting his ability to think clearly. Therefore, we will forgive his inexcusable and muddied remarks regarding bipartisanship and working across the aisle.”
McCain has turned out to be a coward in the end. Did what he was ordered to. He fine with destroying 33 million people as long as he has the best health care money can buy.
Just a small small man and pathetic coward.
At least this may be his last vote.
I hope you suffer the tortures of the damned, you corrupt, hypocritical motherfucker.
I hope you cough up the blood-soaked remains of your rotting brains in front of your grandchildren, you Trump-shit-eating media-made-“Maverick”.
As per your usual modus operandi, party before country once more. They should have left you in that bamboo cage in North Vietnam.
Hope that Donnie Dick tastes nice and sweet, Johnny Boy.
I agree with Nate on this.
Part of why McCain does what he does: There’s a generational and philosophical divide in how he’s covered by the press.
Among younger and less traditional reporters on Twitter — especially on the left but by no means exclusively so — a lot of people are pointing out McCain’s inconsistency in scolding McConnell’s process but nevertheless voting for the motion to proceed.
On CNN, however, the commentary about McCain’s speech was glowing. And the commentary has also been very warm in Twitter comments we’ve seen from older reporters at the major news networks and at newspapers like The Washington Post.
Longtime readers of FiveThirtyEight know that I have a lot of beefs with the establishment media. Moments like these, where they elevate style over substance, are a big part of why.
I’m not going to wish any further physical ills to befall McCain, but having any sympathy for him right now is a tall, tall order. He’s never been anything other than a fraudulent poser, and if he votes yes on any actual bill, the spectacle he engaged in today will go down in American political history as one of the most amazing displays of disingenuous hypocrisy ever witnessed on the Senate floor.
There remains the tiny possibility that McCain will vote no on any actual bill, but anybody who actually believes he will do that is either a sap or a clairvoyant.
