Discussion for article #221992
He needs to apologize for stealing from Americans as much as for being a racist POS.
Apologize⌠oh, that works⌠if you step on someoneâs putting line on a golf green. McCain shows how out of touch he is with this issue â there is no fixing men like Bundy; the idea is to stop enabling them⌠and exploiting them for all the borderline Bundies in the GOP.
Rachel Maddowâs piece here is worth watching.
Radical racist context missed in rancher hype
As Maddow points out, perhaps the GOP and Fox âNewsâ should have been paying more attention to this manâs radical views from the beginning. She asks the overriding question â Were they just ignorant and not listening? She hopes it was ignorance and not something much darker.
Okay, letâs examine Grampyâs latest babblings:
"Apparently he made statements that are racist, and if I were him -- I can't advise anybody what to do, but if those were accurate quotes, then he needs to have an apology,"
Such a WEALTH of McCainisms. âApparentlyâ Bundy made racist statements? Soooooooo youâre telling someone to apologize for shit you know nothing about? Oh, and âhe needs to have an apologyâ? The grammar police may smack me around, but I believe you just said someone needs to apologize to Bundy â which, by the way, is what Bundy essentially said on Alex Jonesâ show yesterday morning.
Nice job, Grampy. Now, GET OFF MY LAWN!
Oh, yeah, one more thingâŚ
You did get one thing right, Grampy: After gifting the nation with Honey Cari-Boo Boo, you canât advise anybody what to do⌠about anything!
They were listening. They werenât ignorant. They were only hoping Bundy wouldnât open his mouth too much â which is exactly what he did.
To be fair to Grampy, there is a major reason heâs being so âsoftly, softlyâ about this: He knows for a fact that there is a shitload of AZ voters just like Bundy â white, old, male, and (in many cases) Mormon. And as long as McCain thinks he can win re-election in '16, he canât piss them off any more than he already has.
Well, you know, the question is worth asking. Because the entire rightwing media complex and the national GOP and everyone in it have embraced a guy that is espousing the views of the Posse Comitatus, much like Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols and violent radical racists before them.
And I do mean EMBRACED â celebrated, promoted, lionized, proclaimed a hero.
Again, did they know what they were doing?
(OFF TOPIC: I miss your old avatar.)
Hereâs something more annoying than race to his remarks: he decries government assistance. Bundy has a problem with folks taking money legally given by the government, but thinks he can just steal from the government himself.
Why does he need to apologize? He told the ugly truth - of how ugly he is. This is America, even if he doesnât see himself as an American. He has a right to expose his ugliness to us, and we have a right to judge him on it. Should we expect him to lie about his ugly beliefs?
Bundy doesnât need to apologize. He needs to disappear from the mediaâs radar screen. Heâs just another Joe the Plumber / Duckcall Dynasty cartoon character that the right wing hyped as some sort of backwoods philosopher-hero who turned out to be ignorant and an embarrassment still living in the 1950s. We all need to forget him. Heâs toast. Itâs over.
The only people I care to hear an apology from are the ones who lionized Bundy for weeks and disparaged any who suggested that the man was anything other than a deadbeat and a criminal. Not that weâll ever hear such, because those responsible for fanning the flames of this boondoggle will see nothing wrong in their actions, but settle for condemnation of his remarks simply to avoid the blowback of them. Nothingâs worse than an enabler and weâve had a whole slew of them that deserve to wear this albatross for the rest of their days.
He already apologized! He said heâs sorry the Jew media tried to take his racist remarks and turn them against him. What more do you want?
Mr McCain, an apology is not appropriate in all situations. An apology works if you have a slip of the lips or if you committed a faux pas that goes against what you claim to stand for. An apology should not be treated as âmagic wordsâ that can heal all your self inflicted injuries. An apology can be used to correct the public record but⌠In this case it would seem that the public record for Mr Bundy is pretty much spot on. There is nothing here that needs to be corrected. This manâs outrageous, racist opinions are as much a part of him as his skinny tie and pointy boots. This bell is not going to be un-rung by something as simple as an apology. Republicans would be best served by leaving this guy behind and looking for another hero.
Unless this is very poorly conceived snark, Iâd tread very carefully. Anti-semitism, or any other hate speech, will not be tolerated. This will be your only warning.
Are you really telling me that you canât recognize that as satire? Weâre talking about a man who has spewed the most vile, racist garbage. How are you supposed to respond to that? With milquetoast comments?
What on earth would be the point of him âapologizingâ? This is what he actually thinks. This is what he has convinced himself is the truth. An apology without actual, shall we say, repentance and a remedy for his ignorance would be of value to exactly no one.
McCain: â⌠I canât advise anybody what to do, but if those were accurate quotes, then he needs to have an apology,â
- You just did advise him what to do, you clown, and in the same sentence no less.
- Bundy is a pinhead racist and he expressed his opinion. Heâs allowed to have one. Weâre allowed to shake our heads in disbelief.
- It is the right wing that needs to apologize. It is your tribe that pumped Bundy into an instant folk hero and is now raising money on that foolâs vomit. Own it.
Well it seems it is these people who turn out to be the offenders themselves isnât it?
I am sorry the government backed down. Watching the video of the congregation of these armed thugs makes me wish they were no longer around
Apology not accepted!
